It’s that time of year already, Valentine’s Day is upon us and many romantics are mulling over what to wear on the big day.

Whether you are off on a loved-up date night, celebrating Galentine’s with pals or just staying in, if you fancy a dose of royal romance, you’re in the right place.

Especially, if you are looking for ensemble inspiration!

Princess Kate Middleton’s Valentine’s-Day-ready style

Look no further, as Princess Kate Middleton is the queen of romantic glamour. Take a scroll and you’ll see…

Over the years, Princess Kate has worn a string of delightfully romantic looks, whether intentional or simply because she rocks pink and red hues brilliantly, Kate has quietly mastered how to encapsulate romantic elegance.

From shimmering pink gowns to her divine lace wedding dress, Princess Kate is our regal muse this Valentine’s Day.

Before she was the Princess of Wales, it seems Kate had already nailed how to dress elegantly, with an enchanting hint of glamour.

Princess Kate’s stunning romantic style

In June of 2008, Kate Middleton looked gorgeous in a long, pink gown, as she attended the Boodles Boxing Ball in Aid of Starlight Children’s Foundation at the Royal Lancaster Hotel.

Although this look isn’t often spoken about, we think Kate could just as easily rewear this piece in 2026 and look just as lovely for an opulent, royal date night with Wills.

On November 16, 2010, when Kate and William announced their engagement, the future princess wore an ideal frock to match her sparkling sapphire engagement ring that once belonged to the late Princess Diana.

Kate was glowing as she sported a royal blue, long-sleeved wrap dress, that was both low-key and luxe.

And it is safe to say the ensemble has since become synonymous with the princess, due to the snaps of their engagement announcement being widely circulated and adored by royal observers.

We couldn’t possibly discuss romantic elegance without spotlighting Princess Kate’s jaw-dropping Alexander McQueen wedding dress, a vision that has likely been ingrained in the minds of most royal fans since Wills and Kate tied the knot in April of 2011.

Princess Kate’s unforgettable Alexander McQueen wedding gown

A statement released by Buckingham Palace at the time revealed that Kate had worked closely with Creative Director of McQueen, Sarah Burton, on the design.

The floor-length ivory dress had long sleeves and a handmade lace-applique bodice, with a romantic circle skirt, which was also handmade, and crafted by the Royal School of Needlework.

Kate had the rose of England, thistle of Scotland, daffodil of Wales and Shamrock of Ireland stitched into the tulle of the skirt, honouring the four nations of Great Britain.

The dress featured a narrow waist and pads at the hip, McQueen’s signature design, which gave her look a figure-hugging yet princess-esque silhouette.

Kate also wore a Cartier halo diamond tiara, which was given to the late Queen in 1936 by her mother on her wedding day. Attached to the tiara was a full veil, made from Chantilly lace.

Princess Kate’s dress also had a train that measured nine feet (2.7 metres) long.

Kate’s first outing with Wills as a married couple wowed royal observers

Following their nuptials, on June 9, of 2011, William and Kate attended their first event as a married couple.

They were guests of honour at the 10th-anniversary ARK Gala and there, Kate wore a breathtaking, sparkling Jenny Packham gown, with silver embellishments and in a soft, lilac-pink hue.

Newlywed Kate definitely made a statement indeed.

Over the years, as Kate has settled into her role within The Firm, firstly as the Duchess of Cambridge and now as the Princess of Wales, she has become more and more confident in her style; donning sequins, striking shades and various fashionable shapes.

Princess Kate was glam in Gucci

In 2019, as patron of 100 Women in Finance’s Philanthropic Initiatives, Kate attended a Gala Dinner at the Victoria & Albert Museum, sporting a breathtaking, pink ombre gown, by Gucci.

The dress was unique and definitely memorable, with dark pink, velvet details.

Celebrating love in fitting pink hues

Another example of Kate’s opulent dressing, has to be when she and William attended Jordan’s Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II’s royal wedding banquet at Al Husseinieh Palace in Amman, Jordan, in June of 2023.

To mark the couple’s actual wedding ceremony, Kate wore an equally as fitting dress.

In 2016, Kate made it evident that dressing with a romantic style isn’t just for evening, it can also work for daytime.

Romantic elegance isn’t just for daytime

The princess wore an all pastel pink ensemble as she attended the Vogue 100: A Century of Style Private View at the National Portrait Gallery, in May of that year.

Unsurprisingly, the subtle, pale pink outfit with a chic peplum waist, was Alexander McQueen.

Princess Kate is also, undoubtedly, a vision in red.

A vision in red

On the 4th of April 2017, Kate attended the opening night of the musical 42nd Street at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. There, she looked very glamorous in a berry red, customised Marchesa Notte Sheer Panel Flared Dress, with delicate red rose detailing.

More recently, in 2022, Kate wowed us in red again, this time, in a glittering, floor-length gown, complemented with the Queen Mother’s Lotus Flower Tiara.

Kate wore a red, Jenny Peckham gown, with intricate flower beading at the Buckingham Palace Diplomatic Corps Reception and looked fabulous, of course.

Princess Kate’s most romantic pink gown to date?

In March of 2022, Kate possibly wore one of her most romantic looks to date and yet again it was a pink number.

This time, it was a shimmering, ruby pink dress by The Vampire’s Wife.

Floor-length, with fluttering cap sleeves, Kate looked magnificent in the magenta frock, as she and Prince William attended a reception to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, on their second day in Belize, Central America, whilst on the Royal Tour of the Caribbean that year.

The couple were hosted by the Governer-General of Belize and mingled with several high-profile guests.

The scarlet skirt we think Kate should rock this Valentine’s Day

Our final mention today is a simple, yet wonderful, striking red ensemble that Kate wore in October of 2021 and we think this would be a stylish rewear option for Kate this year, if she does indeed step out for Valentine’s Day.

Kate looked show-stopping in a pleated, scarlet skirt, paired with a red Ralph Lauren turtleneck, seamlessly tucked in at the waist, as she delivered a keynote speech at an event hosted by The Forward Trust, at BAFTA HQ in London.

Princess Kate, when are you going to bless us with your own fashion line, please?
