Meghan Markle could make a return to the UK this year with her children, Archie and Lilibet, a royal commentator reckons.

It’s believed that last time the Duchess of Sussex, 44, was in the UK was to attend Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral in September 2022. It’s believed her children Archie, six, and Lilibet, four, haven’t visited Britain since June 2022, for the late queen’s platinum jubilee celebrations.

Prince Harry, 41, has returned to Britain on a few occasions since then. But his wife and kids haven’t joined him, choosing to stay in the US where the family lives.

According to reports, Harry could return to the UK this summer for an event marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games. But will Meghan join him?

Meghan Markle could make return to the UK

When asked if he thinks Meghan will return to the UK in 2026, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News‘ People’s Channel: “Yes, absolutely, I certainly do. I think she’ll also bring Archie and Lilibet. I mean, will they see the king? Yes, I would suspect they will.

“How often and for how long? This will get international news, and remember that all of this has been planned.

I think she’ll also bring Archie and Lilibet.

“It’s been planned for a long time. But Harry is an exile. Exiles get very, very lonely, absolutely.”

There’s been no confirmation whether Meghan and her children will be returning to the UK this year.

However, Prince Harry is reportedly set to visit the UK in July for an Invictus Games event. Many will wonder whether Meghan, Archie, and Lilibet will join him.

What is the Invictus Games?

The Duke of Sussex founded his beloved Invictus Games in 2014. It’s an international multi-sport event which was first held in 2014, for wounded, injured and sick military service personnel, both serving and veterans.

Harry was inspired to create the games after visiting the USA for the Warrior Games, which saw wounded and injured service members and veterans who had served their country take part in sports.

Prince Harry's 'desire' over Invictus Games 2027

Prince Harry launched his Invictus Games more than a decade ago, but the 2027 games could see the return of the royal family in attendance.

The 2027 games will take place in Birmingham, UK, from July 10 to July 17.

This is the first time Harry's beloved games have taken place in the UK since its first event in 2014. At the time, many of Harry's family attended.

But it seems Harry has one hope for the event next year...

Prince Harry's 'desire' over Invictus Games 2027

Speaking to The Sun, an insider claimed Harry wants to "fulfil a dream" with his father, the king, at the event.

They reportedly said: "Prince Harry desperately wants Charles at Invictus. He wants him to open the games alongside him. Harry wants it to happen both for the games, and for their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father by his side.

"It is appropriate because Invictus is returning to the UK for the first time since 2014, and given Charles is Head of the Armed Forces. Invictus always invites Heads of State. But Harry wants to go further with Charles involved in the opening ceremony. The games represent a cause close to both’s hearts."

The source added: "They appear to want a reconciliation and the games are a perfect opportunity for them to work alongside each other. The sight of them on stage when it opens would be heart-warming and in the spirit of the occasion."

Royal family 'invited' to the games

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Invictus Games confirmed the royal family will receive invites to the Invictus Games in 2027.

They said: "While it is too early to confirm who will attend in 2027 as invitations have not yet been sent out, organisers of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 will issue invitations to members of the Royal Family in due course, and we would very much welcome their presence."

Harry saw how the power of sport could help wounded servicemen and women in their recovery.

Last February, the Duke of Sussex’s Invictus Games took place in Canada. Meghan joined her husband for a series of days of sporting events. It was the first edition of Invictus Games to feature winter adaptive sports.

Next year, the Invictus Games will make a return to Britain for the first time since its first event in 2014.

Prince Harry tipped to attend Invictus Games event

The games will take place in Birmingham, UK, between July 10 and July 17, 2027.

A spokesperson for Invictus Games said the royal family will receive invites to the games.

They said: “The Royal Family have been longstanding supporters of the Invictus Games since its inception in 2014, with The Duke of Sussex as the Founding Patron of the Invictus Games Foundation. While it is too early to confirm who will attend in 2027 as invitations have not yet been sent out, organisers of Invictus Games Birmingham 2027 will issue invitations to members of the Royal Family in due course, and we would very much welcome their presence.”

Meanwhile, according to reports, Prince Harry wants his father, King Charles, to open the 2027 games with him.

A source told The Sun in January: “Prince Harry desperately wants Charles at Invictus, and he wants him to open the games alongside him. Harry wants it to happen both for the games, and for their relationship. It’s his dream to have his father by his side.”
