King Charles’ alleged reaction to Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Epstein scandal revelations has been revealed by a friend.

It comes after the king and Buckingham Palace issued a statement last week saying that they would support a police investigation into the disgraced royal.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Epstein revelations

The former prince has been embroiled in scandal for some years now, thanks to his links to late convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein.

The former Duke of York, 65, has also faced allegations of sexual assault. The late Virginia Giuffre alleged she was made to have sex with Andrew on three separate occasions when she was 17 after being trafficked by Epstein.

Andrew has always vehemently denied any allegations Ms Giuffre made against him.

In recent weeks, the US Department of Justice released over three million files in relation to Epstein and his crimes. Pictures appearing to show Andrew, on all fours, kneeling over an unidentified female who is lying on the ground, were released as part of the files. No context has been given for the photos. It’s also unknown when they were taken.

Being named or pictured in the Epstein files is not an indication of any wrongdoing. Andrew has always denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.

Files then also suggested that Andrew allegedly passed on confidential information to Epstein back in 2010, during his time as the UK’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.

King Charles’ reaction to Andrew’s Epstein revelations

Now, a friend of the king has revealed the monarch’s reported reaction to his brother’s scandals.

Speaking to BBC Newsnight, Jonathan Dimbleby, a friend of the king’s and royal biographer, said he “would strongly believe” that the king would “very much like” for his brother to testify in front of US Congress.

He also suggested that King Charles will be “appalled” by the allegations being levelled at Andrew.

“It would be astonishing if he wasn’t concerned. Appalled by the allegations. And, of course, affected as his role as monarch because the headlines are all about this. No institution wants that,” he said.

“[Charles] emotions… he is very good at withstanding pressure. I think he will be feeling the pain of this,” he then continued.

Dimbleby suggested that the king must have strong feelings about the issue as he’s stripped Andrew of his titles and evicted him from Royal Lodge.

‘But he is his brother’

Dimbleby then continued, saying: “But he is a brother. Now, they may not be that close, but he is nonetheless a brother.”

Every political figure urging Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor to testify over Epstein links

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor faces many calls to testify before US Congress over his links to Jeffrey Epstein.

For years, the former prince has faced scrutiny over his ties to the late convicted sex offender. The US Department of Justice's January 2026 release of millions of Epstein files has intensified that scrutiny.

Images within the files appear to show Andrew kneeling on all fours over an unidentified, fully clothed female. No context was given over the images.

Meanwhile, emails have emerged suggesting Andrew allegedly shared confidential information with Epstein regarding his official royal visits overseas.

All of this has put the spotlight on Andrew and his association with Epstein.

Political figures call for Andrew to testify over Epstein links

UK Prime Minister, Sir Keir Starmer, spoke out recently. He told reporters: "In terms of testifying, I have always said anybody who has got information should be prepared to share that information in whatever form they are asked to do that. You can’t be victim-centred if you’re not prepared to do that."

Meanwhile, a Reform UK spokesperson said: "It is now time that the police launch an investigation into Andrew Mountbatten. No one is above the law."

In addition, Shadow Foreign Secretary Dame Priti Patel told GB News: "Everyone that’s been involved should be subject to the right kind of inquiries, police investigations. What has taken place and happened is absolutely abhorrent, and it’s right that everyone is scrutinised in terms of their roles, what has happened, information, papers that may have been shared and disclosed."

Elsewhere, Liberal Democrat leader Sir Ed Davey said: "The Epstein revelations are hugely damaging to public trust in our institutions. The police are rightfully looking into this, as we need full transparency to get justice for the victims of this abhorrent abuse. That must also include a public inquiry."

What has Andrew said over the allegations?

For years, Andrew has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.

In his BBC Newsnight interview in 2019, Andrew said he visited Epstein in New York in December 2010 to end their friendship.

It came after Epstein's 2008 conviction for soliciting prostitution from a minor.

Andrew also insisted that it was a "stretch to say that as it were we were close friends".

Being named or pictured among the Epstein files is not an indication of wrongdoing.

“I suspect now that [Andrew] has been banished to an open prison somewhere on the Sandringham Estate, [Charles] will be sensing to give duty of care,” he then went on to say. “This man [Andrew] is a broken, finished man at best.”
