Prince William felt “betrayed” by ITV presenter Tom Bradby following his project with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a new book claims.

In 2019, ITV News anchor Tom participated on a documentary with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex during their tour of South Africa. During this documentary, Prince Harry revealed that he and William were on “different paths”. This appeared to be the first public comment on the brothers’ strained relationship.

According to the Mirror’s royal editor Russell Myers’ new biography, the Prince of Wales, 43, felt Tom had “crossed a line” by participating in the doc.

Prince William ‘felt betrayed’ by Tom Bradby over Harry and Meghan documentary

Myers is releasing a new biography next week. William and Catherine: The Intimate Inside Story will focus on the Prince and Princess of Wales.

In one extract from the upcoming book, it’s claimed that Prince William took issue with Tom Bradby’s involvement in Harry and Meghan’s ITV documentary.

Harry & Meghan: An African Journey aired in 2019, months before the Sussexes announced they were stepping back from senior royal duties.

William felt betrayed and severely let down.

In the documentary, both Harry and Meghan opened up candidly about their struggles within the monarchy.

Tom asked Harry about the rift rumours that were surrounding him and William at that time. Harry replied: “Part of this role and part of this job and this family being under the pressure that it’s under, inevitably stuff happens. But we’re brothers, we’ll always be brothers. We’re certainly on different paths at the moment but I will always be there for him and, as I know, he’ll always be there for me.”

Meanwhile, Meghan opened up about the struggles she had faced with the media attention she endured since marrying Harry.

William’s ‘reaction’ to the documentary

Now, according to Myers’ book, sources claim that the Prince of Wales felt “severely let down” by Tom’s participation in the documentary.

As reported by the Mirror, a source reportedly tells Myers: “William felt betrayed and severely let down. He considered Tom a friend, they had always got on and Harry was close to him too, but [William] never thought [Bradby] would take a side like he did.”

The insider adds: “As far as [William] was concerned, the friendship was over there and then.”

What Meghan said in the ITV documentary

In the ITV documentary, the Duchess of Sussex spoke to Tom about the struggles she had faced since marrying into the royal family.

Tom asked her about the impact of the “pressure” she was under after marrying into the monarchy, becoming a mother for the first time and facing intense media attention.

Meghan said: “Any woman, especially when they’re pregnant, you’re really vulnerable. So that was made really challenging.

“And also thank you for asking because not many people have asked if I’m okay. But it’s a very real thing.”
