Prince Edward pulls out of royal engagement last minute
On Tuesday, Edward, 61, was scheduled to attend a gathering at St James’s Palace.
Edward was meant to appear alongside his brother, King Charles, Queen Camilla, Princess Anne, and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester. Together, they were set to hand out awards to university representatives.
However, Edward was forced to pull out of the event.
It was reported that the Duke of Edinburgh had been struck down by a cold on Tuesday, hence why he had pulled out of attending the gathering.
Despite his illness, Edward appeared to make a speedy recovery, as he was back attending royal engagements on Wednesday.

Edward breaks silence on brother Andrew’s scandal
Edward’s recent appearance comes just a couple of weeks after he addressed the scandal surrounding his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Andrew’s friendship with the late sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein, has been the subject of much scrutiny recently. In the past, the royal has been accused by Virginia Giuffre, who alleged she was trafficked by Epstein, that she was forced to have sex with him three times when she was 17.
Andrew has always denied Ms. Giuffre’s allegations.
Last month, the Department of Justice in the US released more than three million files relating to Epstein and his crimes. In one of the files, pictures appeared to show Andrew kneeling on all fours over an unidentified woman on the ground were released.
Being pictured or named in the Epstein files does not always indicate wrongdoing.
During an appearance at the World Governments Summit in Dubai earlier this month, Edward addressed the scandal.

‘Who are the victims in all this’
One reporter asked Edward about how he and the royal family were coping with the Epstein scandal dominating headlines.
“Well, with the best will in the world, I’m not sure this is the audience that is probably the least bit interested in that,” Edward replied.
“They all came here to listen to education, solving the future. But no, I think it’s all really important always to remember the victims and who are the victims in all this.”
In recent weeks, the Epstein files also seemed to reveal that Andrew allegedly shared confidential information to Epstein during his time as a trade representative for the UK.
Andrew was arrested last week on suspicion of misconduct in public office. He was released under investigation. No charges have been announced.
