Princess Kate has joined the royal family en masse at the Commonwealth Day service today, where she rocked a striking blue ensemble and a set of stunning and meaningful earrings.
Kate Middleton stuns in blue and a set of heirloom earrings
The Princess of Wales looked undeniably elegant in rich, royal blue today.
She joined other members of the royal family at the Commonwealth Day service at Westminster Abbey, which brought together the 56 nations that make up the Commonwealth.
The ceremony is held on the second Monday in March each year.

Unsurprisingly, Princess Kate looked divine in a navy blue Catherine Walker coatdress. She paired the look with a matching hat.
Notably, Princess Kate fulfilled expectations of wearing a piece with a special nod to another special member of The Firm.
Princess Kate wore a pair of Queen Elizabeth’s diamond and pearl earrings, known as the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings.
As per The Court Jeweller, these pearl and diamond jewels carry a special sentiment.

They detailed: “In November 1947, Princess Elizabeth of the United Kingdom married Lt. Philip Mountbatten. The princess received a haul of royal jewels as wedding gifts. Among them was a cache of seven pearls, presented in a shell, a gift from the Hakim of Bahrain. At some point shortly after the royal wedding, two of the Bahraini pearls were used to make a new pair of earrings. The earrings feature round diamond studs, from which are suspended round- and baguette-cut diamonds in an arrangement typical of the late 1940s. The pearls are used as drops on the earrings.”
The late queen was known to often wear the earrings for gala occasions and official portraits.
Meaning behind Princess Kate Middleton’s beautiful pearl and diamond earrings
Elsewhere, the publication also explains that Princess Diana has been known to have also worn the earrings.
“In 1982, the Queen loaned them to the Princess of Wales. Diana wore the earrings with other royal jewels, including her large sapphire and diamond cluster brooch, Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara, and the Queen’s Japanese Pearl Choker Necklace, for a banquet at Hampton Court Palace during a state visit from Queen Beatrix and Prince Claus of the Netherlands.”

This heartfelt tribute comes after it was predicted that Kate would honour both Queen Elizabeth and Princess Diana at the Commonwealth Day Service.
Tobias Kormind, Managing Director of Europe’s largest online diamond jeweller 77 Diamonds, said of Princess Kate’s tendency to style herself with symbolic meaning in mind: “At the Commonwealth Day Service, the Princess of Wales is likely to continue her tradition of wearing jewellery linked to both her late mother‑in‑law and Queen Elizabeth II, a particularly meaningful choice as the nation marks the late Queen’s centenary next month.”
Queen Camilla wears glittering brooch at Commonwealth Day service
Meanwhile, Queen Camilla also wore an eye-catching piece as she stepped out today.
The queen wore the Queen Mother’s Cartier Diamond Palm Leaf Brooch.
Evidently, standing out was The Firm’s priority today as they stepped out in force. Queen Camilla also choice a strong colour, opting for a red coatdress ensemble and matching hat.
The Court Jeweller explains that Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother, commissioned Cartier to make the stunning, leaf-shaped brooch in 1938, using existing diamonds from her personal collection.

The shape is reminiscent of a paisley pattern, which is a motif associated with the Queen Mother’s original home of Scotland.
She famously wore it at the funeral of her husband, King George VI, in February 1952.
Upon her death in 2002, the brooch was handed down and loved by her daughter, the late Queen Elizabeth.
The royals put on a united front today despite the ongoing scrutiny stacking against The Firm, as they stepped out for their first official royal calendar fixture of 2026.
