In fact, fresh claims imply that Prince William actually had “fundamental” concerns for Prince Harry because of the way he was being brought up, rather than due to his behaviour.
Could this be the root of their feud?
Prince William and Prince Harry’s feud started long before Harry met Meghan according to claims
The heir and the spare dynamic has been something Prince Harry has long-criticised, especially in his fitting tell-all memoir, dubbed Spare.
Now, it seems, Prince William has had his own issues with the way future monarchs and their siblings are parented.
Speaking to Marie Claire, royal editor and biographer Russell Myers alleged that William “has a great deal of sadness” about his “fractured” relationship with Prince Harry.
Myers, who penned William and Catherine, The Monarchy’s New Era: The Inside Story, claimed that Prince William felt that heirs should not be put on a pedestal above their siblings.

“The issue of treating the ‘heir and spare’ as completely separate entities is something William has always wanted to change,” Myers claims. “It’s not how he and Catherine have brought up their own children and William saw fundamental problems with the different treatment he was given as a child to his brother. In his view, it wasn’t healthy.”
Princess Diana’s concerns for William and Harry
Princess Diana was said to have been very aware of William’s preferential treatment.
She even was said to have nicknamed Prince Harry “Good King Harry” at one point.
Diana allegedly did so after her youngest son expressed that he could “do the job instead” when a young Prince Wills said he didn’t wish to be king.
Apparently, Prince William has taken this experience into consideration when parenting his own children.
“Of course George, as a future King, will inevitably have a different role to fulfil than his siblings. but that doesn’t mean the family dynamic should reflect that,” Myers said of the matter.
According to Myers, William harbours upset over his difficult relationship with Harry.
The author claims that “issues go way back before Meghan was introduced to the fold.”
Prince William and Prince Harry’s relationship is ‘done’
The royal brothers’ bond is believed to have suffered following Harry’s step away from The Firm in 2020.
And worsened due to his subsequent publication of his tell-all memoir, Spare.
William and Harry have not been seen together publicly since their father’s coronation in May 2023.
Recently, Myers has chimed in on whether the duo could ever be reunited.
Speaking on Hello!’s A Right Royal Podcast, Russell Myers went so far as to claim that the princes’ relationship was “done”.
“Everything I’m told about that relationship is that it couldn’t be worse,” he alleged.
He also speculated: “Maybe there is a time in the future.”
