It's a tradition that has been followed in recent months

Prince William and Princess Kate dazzled at a state banquet this week, but many fans shared one same complaint.

The Prince and Princess of Wales attended the banquet at Windsor Castle on Wednesday evening. It was held in honour of the President of Nigeria, Mr. Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and First Lady, Mrs. Oluremi Tinubu.

Ahead of the dinner, William and Kate’s official social media pages shared a video of the Prince and Princess of Wales dressed to the nines for the occasion.

However, many fans were disappointed with one missing aspect on social media… an official portrait.

Prince William and Kate Middleton official portrait missing at state banquet

For recent state banquets, an official portrait has been shared by Kensington Palace of the Prince and Princess of Wales.

However, this time, there wasn’t a portrait shared. Instead, a video of the couple attending the state banquet was posted.

One disappointed fan wrote on X: “So missing the official portrait by The Prince & Princess of Wales before the state banquet.”

Another wrote to Kensington Palace: “I think we all missed the State Banquet official portrait as you shared with us in the last three occasions; was a beautiful new tradition you started.”

A third added: “We miss the portrait.”

Meanwhile, a hopeful fan said: “I was hoping to get a portrait from @KensingtonRoyal. Hopefully we’ll get it later?”

Princess Kate’s green dress causes a stir

Elsewhere, the Princess of Wales didn’t win over everyone with her dress choice for the banquet.

Kate wore a stunning emerald green dress by Andrew Gn, featuring a high neckline, long sleeves and gathered cuffs.

Completing her look, Princess Kate wore the Lovers Knot Tiara, previously worn by Princess Diana.

However, reacting to Kate’s look on X, one person said: “Why the hell is the future Queen dressed like this tonight at Windsor Castle? In England? In the 21st century?”

Another wrote: “I agree with you – way too clumsy.”

However, one person defended Kate’s look: “She always looks beautiful, appropriate and elegant, as befitting of a queen in waiting.”

Another commented: “She’s dressed respectfully for her guests, and looks amazing! As a future Queen should.”

The Prince and Princess of Wales have attended many state banquets in recent months.

Last September, a banquet was held in Windsor for US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

During the banquet, Trump gave a speech in which he praised the Princess of Wales as “so radiant and so healthy and so beautiful”.

Meanwhile, in December, a state visit took place for the President of Germany. Again, King Charles hosted a state banquet for the president at Windsor Castle.
