King Charles is set to head to the US later this month for a state visit, but he won’t reportedly meet with his youngest son Prince Harry.

Prince Harry lives in the United States with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

With Charles heading to America in just a few weeks, speculation has been rife over whether he’ll meet with Harry.

However, according to new reports, this may not happen.

King Charles and Queen Camilla set for US state visit in April

On Tuesday, Buckingham Palace announced King Charles’ state visit to the US.

A statement read: “On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America.

“Their Majesties’ programme will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence.

“The King will then continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory.”

Why King Charles ‘won’t meet’ Harry

Despite some hopes that the king and Harry could reunite in the US, it seems that may not happen.

A source has told PEOPLE: “When you’re talking about a state visit, every minute is accounted for — especially when it’s the king traveling as the invited guest of a head of state.

“Harry knows how things are and wouldn’t ask for that either under these circumstances.”

Royal Insider has contacted representatives for Prince Harry and Buckingham Palace for comment.

Harry and Charles last met in September last year. During a return to the UK for the WellChild Awards, the Duke of Sussex met privately with his father at the monarch’s London residence Clarence House.

Not many details about the meeting emerged, but the palace confirmed they enjoyed a private tea.

Harry later spoke about his father, saying he was doing “good”.

This was the first time they had met in 19 months. Harry had flew to the UK in February 2024 after King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.

Harry’s relationship with Charles

Over the years, Harry’s tell-all interviews and memoir Spare have appeared to put strain on his relationship with his family.

But in May last year, the duke admitted he would love a reconciliation with his family, especially his father.

Harry knows how things are and wouldn’t ask for that either under these circumstances.

He said: “Of course, some members of my family will never forgive me for writing a book. But I would love reconciliation with my family. There’s no point in continuing to fight any more.

“Life is precious. I don’t know how much longer my father has. It would be nice to reconcile.”

According to recent reports, Harry hopes his father will invite him, Meghan and their children to the UK this summer for some “family time”.

But only time will tell if this happens…
