Prince William was reportedly left “furious” over a comment Sarah Ferguson made about his late grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

Sarah was previously married to William’s uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Following Queen Elizabeth II’s death in September 2022, Sarah and Andrew inherited the late monarch’s beloved corgis Muick and Sandy.

During an interview in 2025, Sarah opened up about looking after the dogs and made a suggestion about her late former mother-in-law.

Sarah Ferguson’s comments about Queen Elizabeth II’s corgis

Speaking at the Creative Women Platform Forum in May last year, Sarah said: “I have her [Queen Elizabeth’s] dogs, I have her corgis so every morning they come in and go ‘woof woof’ and I’m sure its her talking to me.”

Sarah went on to say that she felt it was the “greatest honour” being the queen’s daughter-in-law.

Prince William was then apparently ‘furious’ that she used this anecdote.

Sarah has always spoken lovingly about her bond with Queen Elizabeth II and has paid tribute to her on several occasions since her death.

But it seems these comments about the corgis weren’t received in a great way by the Prince of Wales.

Prince William ‘furious’ over Sarah Ferguson comments

Speaking to Woman magazine, royal commentator Emily Andrews wrote: “Prince William was then apparently ‘furious’ that she used this anecdote.

“William and Kate, along with other members of the family, thought it a crass and bizarre way in which to boast of her closeness to the late queen.”

Royal Insider has contacted Kensington Palace for comment on these claims.

Scandal surrounding Andrew and Sarah over Epstein links

Both Andrew and Sarah have been keeping a low profile in recent months as scrutiny over their past association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein has been mounting.

In January of this year, the US Department of Justice released millions of files relating to Epstein and his crimes. Within the newly released Epstein files, images appeared to show Andrew kneeling on all fours over an unidentified female. No context was supplied for the images.

Emails within the files also appeared to show Andrew allegedly sharing confidential and sensitive documents with Epstein during his time as UK’s trade envoy.

Then, on February 19, Andrew was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office. Hours after his arrest, police released Andrew under investigation.

Andrew has always vehemently denied any wrongdoing in relation to Epstein.

Meanwhile, emails emerged in the files allegedly showing Sarah and Epstein in contact. One email appeared to show Sarah describing Epstein as “the brother I have always wished for”.

The former couple, who divorced in 1996, have been keeping a low profile since. Being named or pictured among the Epstein files is not an indication of wrongdoing.
