Princess Kate Middleton was ‘spooked’ over high-profile romance with Prince William

William and Kate famously met at St Andrew’s University 2001, initially forming a friendship. Between 2002 and 2003, their relationship had turned romantic.

Their worries were said to be due to their very different lifestyles.

“Having grown up under the media glare his entire life, William was clearly aware of what lay on the horizon. For Catherine, however, it was entirely new territory,” Myers explained. “William had done his best to inform her about how the media operated, but now she was the subject of their pursuit things felt incredibly different.”

A former royal courtier previously told Myers that Kate was “spooked” by the attention.

They continued: “No matter how much you’re told about what can happen, you literally can’t have any idea about it until you’re on the other side. And now she was very much on the other side.”

As knowledge of their relationship grew, the couple quickly found themselves in the eye of a media storm. And unsurprisingly, this was said to be very overwhelming.

Explaining the media’s interest in the couple, Myers said: “The world had been waiting for the news that William had a proper love interest and once it was all but confirmed by him or the palace. It marked a turning point for sure. The public were desperate to know if the future King had found his Queen and what that would mean for the future of the monarchy in an ever-changing world.”

Although the couple were known to have endured a brief split during their early years together, they have since been known to be a strong family unit.

Prince William popped the all important question to Kate Middleton in 2010. He asked Kate to marry him with his mother, the late Princess Diana’s, sapphire engagement ring.

They went on to celebrate their nuptials in an unforgettable fairytale royal wedding in April of 2011. Their big day was undoubtedly a moment that is seared into the minds of royal observers across the world.

Princess Kate Middleton stunned in a magical Alexander McQueen gown on her big day. The duo said ‘I Do,’ at Westminster Abbey, in a televised ceremony.

They later celebrated at Buckingham Palace with their royal relatives and friends.
