Prince Harry reportedly “understands” that King Charles’ duty is to “maintain a relationship with anyone who holds office” following the monarch’s US state visit this week.

On Monday, King Charles and wife Queen Camilla travelled to America to begin a four-day state visit. US President Donald Trump hosted the royals.

The official visit included many engagements, a lavish state dinner and also saw King Charles address US Congress.

According to reports, despite living in the United States, Harry didn’t reunite with his father this week. Harry lives in California after his move to the US with his wife Meghan Markle in 2020 following their decision to step back from being working royals.

Prince Harry’s ‘true feelings’ about King Charles’ US state visit

Speaking to Closer, a source reportedly said: “Harry understands, albeit reluctantly, that it’s the king’s duty to maintain a relationship with anyone who holds office [as US President]. But the fact Trump has seemingly made it his mission to discredit and tear them down right before he welcomes his father and stepmother to America is something he can’t get past.

“For Meghan it beggars belief that Charles is allowing this bile and slander from Trump go unanswered or defended. They’re just praying it doesn’t spiral out of hand if Trump gets a chance to run them down to Charles one-on-one.

“It triggers and worries them in equal measure, especially after Charles has refused to visit Harry during his time in America.”

Trump’s comments about Meghan and Harry

Over the years, President Trump has been vocal about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex especially since their decision to step back from royal duties.

Most recently, Trump broke his silence on Harry’s recent comments in Ukraine.

Last week, the Duke of Sussex made a surprise visit to Ukraine and gave a speech at the Kyiv Security Conference. He praised Ukraine’s resilience as they continue their long fight against Russian aggression.

Harry said on stage: “This is a moment for American leadership. A moment for America to show that it can honour its international treaty obligations.

“Not out of charity, but out of its enduring role in global security and strategic stability.”
