Sarah Ferguson says 'my heart breaks' as she shares statement on devastating LA wildfires

Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, has expressed her deep sadness over the news of the devastating wildfires in Southern California and Los Angeles.
In a heartfelt video posted to her Instagram recently, the 65-year-old royal shared her thoughts and offered her support to those impacted.

Sarah Ferguson shares emotional statement on news of LA wildfires
In the emotional video, Sarah opened with an acknowledgment: “I was thinking about whether my words were going to sound very, very trite if I say anything, but I just have got to say something.”
She went on to detail her feelings of heartbreak for those affected.
The animals, the humane society, I am just so devastated.
The duchess said: “My heart is so devastated by the fires in Southern California and Los Angeles. All the people who have been evacuated from their homes, they’ve lost their homes.
“The animals, the humane society, I am just so devastated. I just had to say something. You know that I am 100% there. I really want to know how we can help. All over the world is just so affected by this extraordinary devastation.”
The duchess resides in Windsor with her former husband Prince Andrew. She also paid tribute to the tireless efforts of emergency responders and volunteers.

Sarah praises first responders and emergency services
“My heart goes out to the emergency services,” she said. “To all the people who are tirelessly working and have been working for all these days to try and contain the fire.
“To the first responders and the extraordinary people who are out there fighting, to anyone out there – we’re here, we’re going to keep fighting, we’re going to help you rebuild.”
In addition to her video message, Sarah penned a touching caption for the post.
“My heart breaks as I watch the devastating wildfires that Los Angeles is currently facing. My thoughts are with all those affected,” she wrote.
Sarah added: “My support goes out to everybody in the emergency services who are working tirelessly to help.”

Viewers and fans quickly left comments on the post to thank Sarah for her kind words.

Harry and Meghan volunteer amid Los Angeles wildfires
The duchess’ heartfelt message comes as reports reveal that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who are based in Montecito, California, have also stepped up to assist those impacted by the wildfires.
The couple has reportedly “opened their home” to loved ones who have needed to evacuate their homes.
In addition to offering shelter, they have donated clothing, children’s items, and other essential supplies to those in need.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were also spotted volunteering in Pasadena on Friday. The couple were helping to distribute food and other supplies to people who have been displaced by the fires.
The wildfires, which have caused widespread destruction across Southern California, have left thousands homeless.
