Prince Harry and Meghan Markle branded 'desperate by neighbours' in Montecito
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex moved to California in 2020Prince Harry and Meghan Markle seem to be riling up their neighbours in Montecito, with reports claiming they think the couple are bringing “unwanted drama” to the “beautiful” town.
After stepping back from their senior royal roles in early 2020, Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43, moved across the pond to the US. They have settled in Montecito, California, with their two children – Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
But it seems their presence in the community hasn’t gone down well over the years.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle called ‘desperate’ by neighbours
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield has spoken to Fox News about Harry and Meghan’s impression on the town of Montecito.
She said: “Montecito residents tell me that their disdain is primarily focused on Meghan because she gives off ‘new money energy.’ They don’t believe that Harry and Meghan are financially literate.”
Kinsey claimed that the couple’s entertainment ventures “come off as desperation”. The couple certainly have plenty of projects in the works.
Neighbors have a hard time processing why someone would turn their back on tiaras in pursuit of Tupperware.
The Duchess of Sussex has a new Netflix lifestyle series coming out in March. It’ll see Meghan share her tips and tricks on gardening, cooking and crafting.
Meghan is also expected to launch her lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, sometime this year.
Meanwhile, the couple have launched projects with both Netflix and Spotify since stepping back from their royal roles. Prince Harry also released his tell-all memoir, Spare, in early 2023.

Harry and Meghan ‘bringing negative, unwanted drama’ to Montecito
Kinsey added: “Neighbours have a hard time processing why someone would turn their back on tiaras in pursuit of Tupperware. Selling pots and pans with an American Riviera Orchard logo on it just does not compete with state visits with world leaders.”
Elsewhere, royal broadcaster Helena Chard told the publication that Harry and Meghan “bring negative, unwanted drama to their beautiful area”.
The recent comments contradict one celebrity’s view on the couple back in 2020. Hollywood actress and fellow Montecito resident Sharon Stone shared her thoughts on Harry and Meghan as neighbours, saying they had become “a giving, caring, participating part of our community”.

Speaking to Access Hollywood in 2020, Sharon said: “You know, the thing about them that is so great is they didn’t come here to live off of our community, they came here to be a part of our community.
“My friend said she was sitting in her car and they bicycled across the street and waved at her while she was sitting at the red light.”
The star added: “They’re a part of our community, they’ve become a giving, caring, participating part of our community. They’re not here to be like ‘Would you like to kiss my butt?'”
