Meghan Markle had high hopes that her Netflix lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan, would mark the next big chapter in her career, but insiders reveal that the overwhelmingly negative reaction has left her feeling “crushed and humiliated”.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, poured herself into the eight-part series, which showcases her love for homemaking, gardening and entertaining at an upmarket farmhouse located just two miles from the Montecito mansion she shares with Prince Harry and their children, Archie, five, and Lilibet, three.
However, instead of praise, With Love, Meghan has faced widespread criticism and mockery. Many have questioned its authenticity and relevance.

A source close to Meghan reportedly claims she is devastated by the backlash, despite putting on a brave face.
“Meghan’s gone from being on a complete high to feeling crushed and humiliated,” the insider apparently revealed to Closer. “She was adamant this would be a pivotal moment for her and truly believed it could turn her into the next Martha Stewart. An opportunity to re-launch her career and boost her image.
“Of course, she was anticipating some negative reaction. But that doesn’t mean the backlash she’s received has hurt any less. She’s devastated. She has tried to plaster on a smile and cling on to the fact that the show reached the Top 10 for a couple of days. But deep down, she knows those ratings would have been from all the intrigue surrounding her, and possibly not a genuine interest in the programme itself.”

Despite the harsh criticism, many fans jumped to Meghan’s defense, praising her wholesome approach.
“The duchess has successfully transitioned into her signature identity as a wife, mother, and domestic queen of details,” one Twitter user wrote.
“Ignore the haters, Meghan – they’re jealous. We love and support you!” Another added.
“One episode in and I’m in love!” One supporter gushed on Instagram. “This is so good for the nervous system! Sweet, calming, joyful, beautiful colours, wonderful music!”

With the Sussexes’ reported $100 million Netflix deal still in play, insiders claim Meghan is worried about her and Harry’s future in TV.
The source said that Meghan now feels “unsure about any sort of future in TV and with Netflix” for both herself and Prince Harry.
They apparently added that “all the negativity has left her feeling very hurt” and “annoyed”.
Despite the backlash, Meghan remains hopeful that her lifestyle brand, As Ever, will thrive. This is especially with her high-end strawberry jam and homeware line in the works.
Meghan in ‘jam war’ with Princess Kate
Adding fuel to the fire, Meghan’s jam-making has been unexpectedly overshadowed by Princess Kate. Kate recently made headlines after she promised a group of young gardeners her homemade plum jam recipe.
This prompted royal commentator Charles Rae to joke about a “jam war” brewing between Meghan and Kate.
“I think she knows exactly what she’s doing here, especially as she makes her own plum jam,” Charles told GB News at the time. “And she’s now giving that recipe for free to a well-wisher. I suspect that Kensington Palace is going to get flooded with requests for that recipe. We’ve got jam wars going on.”
Despite constant comparisons to Kate, the insider claims that Meghan is determined not to engage in rivalry.
“Meghan doesn’t know if any of the royals have watched the series or not,” the insider continued. “She’s all too aware of the comparisons with Kate. But she insists she doesn’t care what she thinks, or for that matter how she’s perceived by any of the royals. She knows she’ll be constantly pitted against Kate. But she’s determined not to rise to it.”
