Prince William and Princess Kate have revealed their children Prince George and Louis’ hobbies as they stepped out in Cardiff at the weekend.

The couple enjoyed a day of rugby rivalry on Saturday, as they stepped out to watch the Six Nations match between England and Wales.

The couple supported opposing teams. Prince William backed Wales in his role as Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, while Princess Kate cheered for England as Patron of the Rugby Football Union.

However, before the game, the Prince and Princess of Wales gave a rare insight into Prince George and Prince Louis’ weekend hobbies, revealing their growing love for sports.

During a meeting with injured players supported by the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust, the royal couple chatted about their children’s weekend sports routine.

“At weekends we go from one competition to the next,” Prince William shared.

Kate then gave more details: “Louis is six, and he’s just started touch rugby, and George is 11, and he plays a bit more. They do really enjoy it.”

She continued, highlighting how all three of their children have been exposed to a variety of sports.

Kate said: “They’ve been exposed to lots of different sports.”

This isn’t the first time Princess Kate has spoken about their children’s love for rugby. Back in 2022, during an engagement for the Six Nations championships at the time, Kate Middleton said: “They’re all enjoying it [rugby]. Louis is kamikaze, we’re worrying about when he gets older, he’ll be in the middle of everything.”

It’s no surprise that sports have been a major part of Kate’s life. Her sister Pippa Middleton previously shared how important rugby was to their family.

“Rugby was a big thing for our family,” Pippa told Vanity Fair in 2014. “We’d plan our weekends around the big matches. A quick bite to eat at halftime or lunch on our laps, typically a chicken pot pie or something equally cosy and English. If we lost, my dad would be in a state of despair for the rest of the afternoon, as if he’d actually lost the game himself.”

George, Charlotte and Louis’ hobbies

Beyond rugby, George, Princess Charlotte, and Louis have already shown interest in a range of sports.

George, 11, frequently attends football matches alongside Prince William, who was previously President of the Football Association. Last year, William shared that George has also developed a love for scuba diving.

Speaking to Olympians Adam Peaty and Tom Dean, he revealed: “George loves scuba diving. We took him under thinking he would freak out. He absolutely loves it. It’s just introducing him to the world of water.”

Meanwhile, Charlotte, nine, showcased her athletic abilities when she appeared in a good luck message to the Lionesses ahead of their Euros final in 2022.

She has also expressed a strong interest in gymnastics.

With both William and Kate’s love for sports, it’s no surprise that their children are following in their athletic footsteps.
