Rumours of a rift between Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow have been quietly and definitively shut down – all without the Duchess of Sussex saying a single word.

Speculation there was a ‘feud’ between the two arose after the actress was accused of mocking the royal’s new cooking show.

But it seems Gwyneth wanted to put these to bed once and for all – and enlisted Meghan’s help!

Meghan Markle makes a cameo in Gwyneth Paltrow’s video

It all unfolded on Instagram when Gwyneth Paltrow responded to a fan question during her signature Q&A session.

“Are you comprehending the Meghan Markle beef that social media says you two have?” the question read.

Wearing a chic button-up cardigan, gold chain, and oversized glasses, Gwyneth looked straight into the camera and deadpanned, “I genuinely do not understand this at all whatsoever.”

She then turned off-camera and asked, “Do you understand this?”

The camera panned to reveal Meghan Markle herself seated at the same dining table, dressed in a sleek navy button-up. She didn’t say a word – just shrugged, smiled and took a bite of pie, effortlessly putting the rumours to rest with a single bite.

The message was clear: there’s no beef here.

For good measure, Meghan reposted the video to her own Instagram Story and tagged Gwyneth.

Meghan avoided social media and news headlines

In under 10 seconds, Meghan and Gwyneth managed to extinguish weeks of speculation.

For Meghan, the gesture was especially meaningful. After all, she’s long said she avoids headlines and social media for her mental health. In a 2019 panel discussion for the Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, she admitted. “I don’t read anything. It’s much safer that way.”

Pressed further, she clarified, “No! Sorry, no [Twitter]. For me, that is my personal preference.”

But she did confess to reading The Economist: “We make a choice in what we read, we make a choice in what we engage in.”

So the question on everyone’s lips: if she doesn’t read social media or headlines, how did she even know about the ‘beef’?

Well – Meghan is officially back on Instagram, and it’s clear she’s aware of how she’s being perceived online.

Meghan Markle and Gwyneth Paltrow ‘beef’ rumours

The rumours of tension started earlier this month after the actress was asked whether Meghan’s upcoming brand As Ever posed any threat to her own wellness empire, Goop.

“I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,” Gwyneth explained. “I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try. Another woman is never your competition.”

She even joked: “I don’t know Meghan and Harry. I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all. Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.”

Well, it seems the pie was metaphorical – until this week.

Duchess returns to the public eye

Meanwhile, fans and critics interpreted Gwyneth’s stripped-down, makeup-free kitchen Q&A as subtle shade aimed at Meghan’s polished, high-production aesthetic in her Netflix show With Love, Meghan.

Some also thought the use of This Will Be (An Everlasting Love) in Gwyneth’s video was shade. The same track was featured prominently in Meghan’s Netflix promos.

“Even the music. That’s Natalie Cole ‘this will be (an EVER lasting love)’!!!!!” one fan tweeted

“Gwyneth Paltrow continues to throw shade & I’m here for it! No makeup in her actual kitchen!” another wrote.

But all that speculation melted away with Meghan’s blink-and-you’ll-miss-it shrug.

Meghan’s quiet cameo comes amid a well-coordinated return to the public eye. In the past few weeks alone, she’s launched her ShopMy affiliate page, a new podcast, Confessions of a Female Founder, the Netflix series With Love, Meghan, and her upcoming brand As Ever.

Public relations expert Mayah Riaz recently described Meghan’s current moves as a “strategic re-entry into public consciousness.”
