Prince Harry sparks 'fears over another tell-all book' after Spare
The duke recently visited the UK for his court hearing
There’s often speculation that Prince Harry could release another tell-all book like his memoir Spare.
But any talk of another book is sparking panic inside Buckingham Palace, it’s said.
Senior palace aides and insiders are said to be “increasingly concerned” that Harry, 40, may “tell all” once again – particularly in the wake of his recent High Court battle over the downgrade on his taxpayer-funded police protection in the UK.
After Harry stepped down as a working royal in 2020, he lost his right to automatic high-level police protection, funded by the public, when visiting Britain. Instead, his security in the UK is decided on a case-by-case basis. But Harry isn’t satisfied and is challenging the decision in court.
“This is clearly intensely personal,” a royal source told The Sun. “There are fears about what he might do if the decision goes against him. This could not come at a worse time.”

Was Harry’s book Spare a success?
Yes, Spare was a runaway bestseller. The memoir became the fastest-selling non-fiction book of all time on its release day in January 2023.
It sold over 1.4 million copies in its first 24 hours and has since topped charts globally.
There are fears about what he might do if the decision goes against him.
However, while its commercial success was undeniable, it widened the rift between Harry and his family.
Royal insiders said the book, along with the Netflix documentary Harry & Meghan, caused “irreparable harm” to his relationships with King Charles, Prince William, and other senior royals.
How much money did Prince Harry make on his book Spare?
Prince Harry reportedly received an advance of £16 million ($20 million) as part of a multi-book deal with publisher Penguin Random House.
As reported by the Daily Mail, he may have made upwards of £22 million ($27 million) due to the high sales figures.
The deal includes up to four books, leading many to believe Harry still has more to say.
He even hinted at this in an interview during his press tour for Spare.
“It could have been two books, put it that way. And the hard bit was taking things out,” Harry said at the time.

What is Harry’s book about?
Spare is a memoir detailing Prince Harry’s life from childhood through to his royal exit, his marriage to Meghan Markle and the ongoing mental health struggles he faced within the monarchy.
The title references Harry’s role as the “spare” heir, living in the shadow of his older brother, Prince William, the future king.
Who called Harry the ‘spare’ first?
The term “spare” reportedly originated at birth. King Charles allegedly made the remark following Harry’s arrival in 1984.
According to Spare, Charles is said to have joked to Princess Diana: “Wonderful! You’ve given me an heir and a spare – my work is done.”
Harry has said this label followed him for life, becoming a symbol of the secondary role he played in the royal hierarchy.

Is Harry releasing a new ‘tell all’ book?
Now, insiders fear a second memoir or podcast may be on the horizon. After his recent UK court hearing over his security case, Harry spoke to the press.
While some details from the hearings were revealed in the press, much remained private.
Harry said that “people would be shocked by what’s being held back”. Harry added that his “worst fears have been confirmed by the whole legal disclosure in this case and that’s really sad”.
“There’s a lot of worry that Harry could tell all in a book deal or even follow Meghan’s lead and make a podcast,” the source continued to The Sun. “He’s hinted he has discovered secrets during the hearings… that would shock us all. It is a veiled threat essentially that he will tell all if it doesn’t go the way he wants it to.”
Despite being in London for two days, Harry did not meet with King Charles or his brother William.
Royal Insider has contacted reps for the palace and Harry for comment.
