Prince William and Kate Middleton won’t attend this year’s Easter church service with other royals.

Each year, members of the royal family attend a church service on Easter Sunday. Typically, the Prince and Princess of Wales attend. Last year, they didn’t attend as Kate was undergoing treatment after announcing her cancer diagnosis publicly.

The year prior, they attended with all three of their children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

However, this Easter Sunday (April 20), the Wales family didn’t attend the service. Instead, the family spent the day privately together before George, Charlotte and Louis go back to school.

Prince William and Kate Middleton ‘pull out’ of Easter service with royals

HELLO! reports that Prince William, 42, and Kate, 43, will spend the Easter weekend at their Anmer Hall home in Norfolk.

They are choosing to spend time together as a family before the children go back to school.

It’s believed they’re having a quieter Easter with their kids.

Meanwhile, a source has told the Mirror: “They are choosing to spend time together as a family before the children go back to school.”

According to the publication, King Charles, 76, agreed to the decision.

Royal Insider has contacted reps for the Prince and Princess of Wales for comment.

Royals attending Easter Sunday service

King Charles led the church service alongside his wife Queen Camilla, 77, and other senior royals.

Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, joined the royals at the service.

Last year, Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson joined the celebrations. They also attended this year, joining members of the family.

Each year, the royal family marks Easter celebrations starting with the Maundy Thursday service. It takes place the Thursday before Easter Sunday.

This year, Charles and Camilla attended a royal service at Durham Cathedral on April 17.

How does the royal family spend Easter?

Easter is a time for family and reflection for the royals, like many people at Easter. This week, a royal commentator shared with us what the royal family’s plans usually look like.

Richard Fitzwilliams revealed: “The royals have been successful in keeping their weekend activities private. However these are testing times. With the king battling cancer and the Princess of Wales recovering from it, they will undoubtedly enjoy the support of their family.

“This will also be an opportunity to ensure that the workaholic monarch actually slows down over the Easter holiday.”
