A body language expert has explained how this has changed in recent years as the young princess grows used to the royal spotlight.

Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte’s bond explained
Since the death of her great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Charlotte has impressed royal enthusiasts with her appearances at royal events.
The young royal often shows off poise and grace, mirroring that of her mother, Kate Middleton.
Body language expert Judi James has analysed the meaning behind Kate and Charlotte’s dynamic.
She describes how their effortless behaviour as a duo allows them to seamlessly glide through royal events like swans.
Consequently, enchanting those around them.
Discussing the topic for MailOnline, Judi has explained the transformation behind Princess Charlotte’s behaviour.
“The little girl who, like any child, could once throw the occasional public tantrum has transformed,” she observes. “Now, her body language suggests that any taste for drama has been replaced by a much more mature awareness of ‘getting it right’ while supporting her mother.”

Princess Charlotte at royal engagements
As Charlotte is set to celebrate her tenth birthday, gone are the days where she would make a fuss in public. Now, the young princess is accustomed to attending prestigious gatherings.
She often joins her family at events like Christmas at Sandringham, Easter at Windsor Castle and Trooping the Colour at Buckingham Palace.
Last year, at Trooping the Colour, Princess Charlotte was especially well-mannered.
The event was Kate Middleton’s first outing since sharing she had been diagnosed with cancer.
Here, Princess Charlotte showed her support of her mother.
Charlotte has naturally adopted the role of family prefect.
At one point, after Kate’s own attempts to clear condensation from their carriage window, Charlotte calmly took over the task.
Meanwhile, Kate’s maternal gestures like smoothing Charlotte’s hair into place remained, however Judi explains that these are increasingly “reward gestures for a job well done, rather than soothing rituals to calm and reassure”.
Royal behaviour explained
Charlotte appears to be more aware than ever and like her mother, displays empathy and consideration.
Undoubtedly cultivated by the families navigation of Kate’s serious diagnosis.
The princess also acts out Kate-like poses, highlighting her mother as her role model.
Charlotte displays sustained royal smiles and head tilts which help to “deflect camera attention away from her mother,” the expert theorised.
Judi added: “Like her great-grandmother, Charlotte has naturally adopted the role of family prefect.”
She goes on to say that Charlotte is often seen keeping her brothers in order and correcting their body language.
Judi said: “There were many occasions when the late Queen would be seen correcting Prince William’s balcony appearances, and Charlotte has not only inherited her winning smile but also her ability to keep the younger royals in check.”
