Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly hired a member of staff with a link to Netflix show, The Crown.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex live in Montecito, California, and have been building their life across the pond since 2020.

Prince Harry and Meghan ‘hire PR executive’ with The Crown link

It was recently claimed by HELLO! that Harry and Meghan had hired Emily Robinson as their new Director of Communications.

However, it has now been claimed that Robinson previously oversaw global publicity for hit Netflix drama, The Crown from series three to six.

Season six of The Crown depicted the events of Princess Diana’s death, as well as Prince William meeting Kate Middleton for the first time.

The sixth season also depicted the time Prince Harry dressed in a Nazi costume at a party in 2005.

Other moments in The Crown featured the ghost of Princess Diana speaking to Queen Elizabeth II, and Carole Middleton being portrayed as a matchmaker for William and Kate.

The move to hire Robinson has been seen as another indicator that the Sussexes have no interest in reconciling with the royal family.

Harry and Meghan appoint new communications staff

Speaking to the Daily Mail, a source reportedly said: “She was always very charming and supportive to [creator of The Crown] Peter Morgan and all the actors in The Crown.

“She is one of the breed of publicists who think that the talent can do no wrong.”

“In the circumstances, it’s almost beyond belief that Harry and Meghan would hire someone straight from The Crown,” they added.

Harry has previously spoken positively about The Crown.

“They don’t pretend to be news. It’s fictional. But it’s loosely based on the truth. Of course, it’s not strictly accurate,” he told James Corden during an interview in 2021.

What does Prince Harry think about The Crown?

“I’m way more comfortable with The Crown than I am seeing the stories written about my family, or my wife, or myself,” he added.

During an interview with Stephen Colbert in 2023, Harry admitted that he did “fact-check” The Crown when watching it.

The Mail has claimed that the Sussexes were aware of Robinson’s background on The Crown. However, they consider it to be only one programme among many that she has previously worked on.

Royal Insider has contacted the Sussexes’ representatives for comment.

Harry ‘lost control’ during chat about The Crown

However, despite previously speaking about The Crown, it doesn’t seem as though it was a comfortable subject for the duke… during his chat with Stephen Colbert, at least.

Speaking to The Mirror, body language expert Judi James claimed that there was a shift in Harry’s behaviour during the subject of The Crown.

“He seemed unshockable right up to this point where he was asked about The Crown. Despite his facial expressions retaining the aura of being a chilled, down-to-earth fun guy, his hands and leg movements told a contrasting story of unease and of losing control of the interview,” she observed.
