Trooping the Colour: Prince William and 'smitten' Kate Middleton's 'deeply in love' moment
King Charles' official birthday parade took place on Saturday
Prince William and Kate Middleton reminded the world of their deep bond as they appeared at Trooping the Colour on June 14, with one body language expert describing their connection as “genuine, loving and stronger than ever”.
The royal pair joined King Charles, Queen Camilla and other senior royals for the monarch’s official birthday parade.
Speaking on behalf of Betfair Casino, body language expert Darren Stanton analysed the couple’s body language, particularly their interactions during the iconic Buckingham Palace balcony appearance.

Prince William and Kate Middleton ‘stronger than ever’ at Trooping the Colour
“William and Kate appeared stronger than ever,” Darren shared.
“There’s a shot of Kate looking at William in his uniform during the parade in almost a mischievous and smitten way. There’s a great sense of pride coming from her in the photo.”
According to Darren, one moment on the palace balcony stood out as particularly intimate.
“There’s another fantastic photo of the couple looking at each other, which really highlights how strong their connection is,” he said.
“Their bodies are turned towards one another, showing they’re matching and mirroring each other’s posture. There’s also prolonged eye contact. Three to five seconds is typical, but this goes well beyond that. They’re clearly in their own little bubble and very much in love.”
He added that the couple’s easy rapport and affection paint a reassuring picture of the monarchy’s future.
Darren said: “They’ve got a fantastic rapport and nothing feels staged. Everything about them is completely genuine.
“Kate and William proved how united they are as a couple and just how close-knit their family is. This is what the future of the monarchy looks like.”
Much like his father, the future king donned his military uniform for the event. Meanwhile, Kate turned heads in a sky blue Catherine Walker dress coat and matching hat.

Trooping the Colour 2025
While the Prince and Princess of Wales’ loving energy drew the spotlight, Darren said the entire royal family appeared especially close-knit and connected this year.
Darren said: “What is clear, which doesn’t always come across, is that they’re all incredibly close to each other. William often shows signs of endearment towards his dad. Despite him being the king, he’s still his father. I think they are much closer than is often known or public perception.”
The expert added that the balcony moments between King Charles and Queen Camilla also carried a subtle emotional depth.
He said: “Camilla is the love of the king’s life. Their exchanged smiles and glances yesterday were really touching.”
Trooping the Colour 2025 was full of symbolic weight. King Charles, still undergoing cancer treatment, opted once again to ride in a carriage rather than on horseback.
His decision was met with understanding and support from royal watchers, and Darren noted that the king looked genuinely happy throughout the day.
He said: “Charles had a fantastic expression on his face. He seemed really excited to see the flyby. It looked like the whole of the royal family were in great spirits and in a good frame of mind, showing genuine smiles throughout.”
