Sarah Ferguson made her first appearance at Wimbledon in over 20 years today (June 30) as she joined daughter Princess Beatrice in the Royal Box.

It was the first time the Duchess of York, 65, had attended the Championships in the Royal Box since 2001, and she was alongside figures including David Beckham, Eddie Redmayne, and Richard Osman. Also present was Lady Gabriella Kingston, the daughter of Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and King Charles’ second cousin.

Fergie, who often attended Wimbledon with Princess Diana in the 1980s and 1990s, wore a bright green paisley dress and an emerald bracelet that looked similar to one often worn by Queen Camilla of late. She sported diamond hoop earrings and a brown box bag, as well as sunglasses as she watched the match between Carlos Alcaraz and Fabio Fognini.

Princess Beatrice channelled Meghan Markle’s Wimbledon outfit

Beatrice, Sarah’s elder daughter, appeared to channel Meghan Markle with her outfit.

She wore a blue striped Sandro shirt with a collar, long sleeves, and embroidered flowers with rhinestones and pearl beads, which bore similarities to Meghan’s outfit in 2018.

The blue and white striped Ralph Lauren shirt worn by Meghan that year immediately sold out following her appearance, when she joined Kate Middleton, 43, to watch Serena Williams play.

Dara Huang, the mother of Beatrice’s stepson, Wolfie, was also in attendance today. Architect Huang co-parents Wolfie with her ex-fiancé, Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi, who married Beatrice in 2020.

Beatrice and Edoardo have two daughters, Sienna and Athena, together.

Royals often attend Wimbledon, and it’s been speculated that Kate may make one of her next public appearances at the Championships. She’s been out of the public eye more than usual in recent months as she continues to recover from cancer and her subsequent chemotherapy, and was absent from the Royal Ascot earlier this month.

As for Sarah, meanwhile, Beatrice, 36, recently spoke of the “hard times” her mother faced following her divorce from Prince Andrew. She joined her sister Princess Eugenie, 35, on the Lessons From Our Mothers podcast hosted by her close friend Cressida Bonas, also an ex-girlfriend of Prince Harry, and her half-sister Isabella Branson.

Sarah faced ‘hard times’ following divorce, said Beatrice

In the episode, Beatrice and Eugenie spoke fondly of their mother, explaining that “there was always an adventure to be hand,” with Beatrice saying: “Now it’s so fun reflecting and looking back to say some of the harder times, through divorce, and through challenging moments, there was always an adventure.

“She had an ability to jump into things with two feet. That is an amazing early memory for us. This way, with which she just brought that joy to moments, including running late for school.”

Beatrice also discussed one of her earliest memories, which involved Sarah promising breakfast in the car to encourage both of her young daughters to hurry up in the morning.

Andrew and Sarah got married in 1986 and announced their separation in 1992, highlighting the pressures of royal life as well as Andrew’s absences for his Royal Navy duties.

However, they have remained friends following their 1996 divorce, even both living at Royal Lodge in Windsor and taking in the late Queen Elizabeth II’s dogs following her death in September 2022.
