Prince William and Kate Middleton keep Prince George ‘grounded’ with shared passion away from royal life
George is next in line to the throne after Prince William
Life for a future king is far from normal, but Prince William and Kate Middleton seem to be keen on keeping Prince George grounded.
Currently, the Prince and Princess of Wales are said to be ensuring George gets a break away from the expectations of a young royal.
He is instead said to be enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle during the school holidays.

Prince William and Kate Middleton attempt to keep Prince George ‘grounded’
George, who attends Lambrook School in Berkshire, just turned 12.
He is heading into Year 8 (typically the second year of secondary school) after the break between terms and is reportedly preparing to head to the prestigious Eton College in 2026.
The prince celebrated his birthday this week. The occasion was marked when he was seen smiling as he posed for a birthday photo, taken by Josh Shinner.
Like Charlotte and Louis’ birthday photos, the photo showed George outside, beaming, as he enjoyed the fresh air.
George and Louis were both photographed in Norfolk, whilst Charlotte opted for a camouflage jacket.
In the snap, she smiled as her mother took the photograph during a trip to Cumbria earlier this year.
The three images highlight just how much the trio enjoy being at one with nature.

The Waleses children love being outdoors
Importantly, an expert has pointed out that their time outdoors is very good for their wellbeing, especially amid the stresses and strains of being in the public eye.
Dr. Amanda Gummer, Chair of the Assoc of Play Industries and Founder of FUNdamentally Children, told Hello just how wonderful it is to see the royal children outside.
She also explained why this time outside is intrinsic to their wellbeing.
She said: “For royal children, whose lives are understandably more structured and scrutinised, outdoor environments can offer a rare sense of freedom and privacy. It’s also a great leveller. Jumping in puddles or digging in the dirt is fun for all children, regardless of background!
“The royal children’s evident love of the outdoors is a reflection of their parents’ values too. The Prince and Princess of Wales have spoken often about the importance of nature and mental wellbeing. And it’s clear they’re passing this on to their children in a very grounded way.”
Kate Middleton’s thoughts on nature and mental wellness
It seems Kate definitely sees the importance of being outdoors.
In a video marking the start of Mental Health Awareness Week 2025, Princess Kate discussed the importance of getting outside.
“Over the past year, nature has been my sanctuary,” she said, alluding to her recent journey battling cancer.
“The natural world’s capacity to inspire us, to nurture us, and help us heal and grow is boundless and has been understood for generations. It is through nature that we can fully understand the true interconnectedness of all things, the importance of balance, and the importance of renewal and resilience.”
Prince William’s thoughts on children being outdoors
William also feels passionate about children finding joy in the outdoors.
In 2018, he said during a visit to Sweden, where he learned about the country’s education system: “One lesson that we will take home with us is that children are actively encouraged to spend time outdoors, whatever the weather.”
