Prince William's 'raw emotion' during women's Euros final as he cheered on Lionesses
The Prince of Wales supported the Lionesses in the nail-biting final
Prince William evidenced the kind of king he’ll be with his appearance at the women’s Euros 2025 final, a body language expert reckons.
The heir to the throne was in attendance for Sunday evening’s (July 27) tournament climax between the Lionesses of England and Spain’s women’s team. With Princess Charlotte, 10, also watching on in Basel, Switzerland, England were victorious after extra time and a nail-biting penalty shootout.
Prince William also had a role handing out medals at the end of the game – and he looked ecstatic to greet the footballing heroines, congratulating them with hugs, handshakes, and gripped palms. According to his analysis, body language expert Darren Stanton believes this conduct could give clues about Prince William’s future as monarch.

Prince William’s ‘passionate’ behaviour at the Euro 2025 final
Speaking on behalf of Genting Casino, Darren highlighted how Prince William’s open gestures and emotional expressions reflect not only his love for football but also his authentic leadership style.
He also suggested Prince William’s warm interactions with players during the medal ceremony, which also included a hilarious moment with Chloe Kelly, made it clear how “relatable” he is.
That raw emotion on his face shows just how invested he is.
Darren also pinpointed that this could mean King William will connect powerfully with his subjects. The expert also delved into William’s “raw emotion” during the nail-biting game.
Darren said: “I truly think Prince William is a fantastic ambassador for sport, he’s clearly genuinely passionate about it.”
He added: “Both he and Kate are competitive by nature. And you can see how completely absorbed he becomes in the moment. There’s a brilliant shot of him with his hands to his face, eyes wide and mouth open, clearly caught up in the tension of the game. That raw emotion on his face shows just how invested he is.”

‘Prince William will be a very popular king’
Darren also noted how moments such as a hug with Leah Williamson and an animated chat with Michelle Agyemang demonstrated how engaged Prince William was with the Lionesses.
“The fact that he gets so emotionally involved in moments like this helps ignite a real sense of pride and national unity,” Darren added. “I think that’s part of why people respond to him so strongly. He’s built trust, rapport, and a real connection with the public. And when the time comes, I believe that will make him a very popular king.”
He has built trust, rapport, and a real connection with the public.
Furthermore, he went on: “There’s no ego, no aloofness, no sense that he sees himself as separate. His body language and warmth send a clear message about the kind of monarch he’ll be. He’s open, passionate, and deeply committed to connecting with people on a personal level. He’s not just a great ambassador for sport. He represents the future of the monarchy in a way that feels very human.”
