King Charles' sweet attempt to calm crying baby in 'cute' moment
The baby began crying when Charles walked overKing Charles appeared to tell a joke in an attempt to get a baby to stop crying whilst meeting him.
On Wednesday (August 6), King Charles headed to the RAF Lossiemouth in Scotland, one of two quick reaction alert stations that protect the UK airspace 24 hours a day. While he was there, suited up in his military gear, he didn’t receive a warm welcome from everyone.
It was Charles’ last day of duties before he takes a pause for his summer break, and a little baby definitely made it a memorable meeting for him.

King Charles tells a ‘joke’ to crying baby during Scotland visit
During the event, the 76-year-old king met crew and guests, toured an elite P-8A Poseidon aircraft, and chatted with children who attend the Airplay Youth support program alongside their families.
But while greeting fans, a young baby wouldn’t stop crying, clearly overwhelmed by all of the things happening around. But the crying didn’t derail King Charles from speaking to the little one’s mum – or in fact the baby themself.
Cameras caught the moment where the baby’s mother was nervously laughing, trying to stop the crying as King Charles spoke to her. However, in an adorable moment, King Charles looked at the baby’s family, and according to reports, he made “a quick joke” that made everyone around them laugh.
While we don’t know what joke Charles actually told the family, it was clearly a good one! And having raised his own kids and spending a lot of time with his grandkids, King Charles probably has quite a few jokes to tell.
However, it seems Charles’ joke wasn’t enough as the baby continued to cry out. But the king continued his conversation as normal.
Fans have reacted to the video, which is currently circulating on social media. And some have even joked that the baby looked “terrified” of King Charles.
One commented: “The baby looks so terrified. Well done to the king for keeping things normal!”
Another penned: “Such a cute moment.”

What is King Charles doing in Scotland?
During his time in Scotland, King Charles was presenting the new flag at the station. And while doing so, he gave a speech, which even mentioned parts of his own childhood.
He said: “It gives me the greatest possible pleasure to be here with you all today. We mark the standing up of the 42 Torpedo Bomber Squadron, and to present you with your new standard.
It gives me the greatest possible pleasure to be here with you all today.
“I am especially pleased to be doing so here at R.A.F Lossiemouth, the beating heart of the UK’s long-range maritime patrol aircraft capability. And an air station at the end of whose runway my old school, Gordonstoun, is situated!”
It’s believed King Charles has been in Scotland since at least July 28, and it was reported he may be staying at the Castle of Mey. This is just one of the many homes in his royal ownership, and has been closed to the public since July 24.
