Big cat enthusiasts are said to be convinced that a “panther-like beast” is prowling the perimeter of King Charles‘ country home in Gloucestershire.

An eye-witness claims they spotted the creature in Tetbury, where Highgrove House is located.

King Charles’ home ‘stalked by beast’

According to reports, a dog walker was walking her three dogs when they disturbed the supposed panther attempting to kill a fox.

The three large dogs apparently scared the beast away and it abandoned it’s prey.

Royal Insider has contacted Buckingham Palace for comment on this story.

Several big cats were imported to the UK for private collections. This occurrence dates back to the Victorian times.

Because of this, some theorise animals born of these creatures are still roaming the countryside. Likely, descendants of those which escaped captivity over the years.

Evidently, this isn’t the best timing for the king. Charles has a pretty important guest visiting him in September, the US president, Donald Trump.

Of course, this is also inconvenient considering Highgrove welcomes 30,000 visitors each year.

Currently, the gardens are open to the public until October.

So, the last thing they will want is a beast prowling around that could scare off guests or mess up their pristine gardens!

The news comes shortly after an investigation by The Sunday Times into Highgrove’s staffing situation.

The investigation reported that there has been a mass “exodus” of gardeners in recent years.

11 out of 12 full-time gardening personnel are said to have made their departure from Highgrove House since 2022.

According to the report, some employees “complained of poor conditions, including pay as low as minimum wage”.

Is King Charles’ home ‘under threat’?

This alleged feline encounter follows a motorist’s claim of spotting a black panther near the M5 back in May, states Gloucestershire live.

The reports are said to be being investigated by big cat specialist Rick Minter, who is currently organising an exhibition focused on the impressive felines.

The showcase is being held in partnership with Rick’s Big Cat Conversations podcast, where the encounter was detailed.

Rick described the story in one of his podcast episodes, as per the Express. Stating: “Episode 41 features a dog walker near Tetbury who watched a black panther cornering a fox at dusk.

Big cat update

“Her three big dogs were on leads but they rumbled the cat, which rushed away and the fox emerged from its trapped situation and left the area keeping close to the walker and her dogs, seemingly wanting their company for safe escort.”

Thus far, at the time of writing this article, Highgrove is yet to post an update about the scenario on their official Instagram page or their website.

Instead, they are advertising guided Autumn walks around the estate.

Their most recent post detailed a new ticketed workshop experience available at the gardens, where guests can learn how to make Japanese moss ball plant displays.

The caption reads: “Kokedama Workshop and Autumn Garden Walk. Join us for a 75-minute guided autumn walk through Highgrove Gardens, followed by a hands-on Kokedama workshop, hosted by @scentiments_tetbury.

“Learn the timeless Japanese art of creating beautiful moss ball plant displays using seasonal materials and the Nearai Bonsai method. Experience nature’s calm and creativity combined in one unforgettable autumn event.”
