King Charles and Queen Camilla quietly hold concert at Balmoral as senior royals attend
But have Prince William and Kate already left?

King Charles and Queen Camilla put on a low-key concert at Balmoral during their summer holiday in Scotland, it’s reported.
According to the Court Circular, which details official engagements and functions the royals participate in, King Charles and his wife held the event yesterday (Thursday, August 28) evening.
Furthermore, it is believed several other senior royals were also in attendance. However, as yet, no images have been released by Buckingham Palace of the private occasion. Reports indicate, however, that Prince William and Kate Middleton – known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland – may not have been at the concert.

Why did King Charles and Queen Camilla hold a concert at Balmoral?
The Court Circular confirms the monarch “held a concert of music that was performed at the 2023 Honours of Scotland Service”.
The 2023 Honours of Scotland Service, held at St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh, took place in July of that year.
A celebration of the king’s coronation, the ceremony saw the new monarch presented with the representations of his authority in Scotland. These include the Crown, the Sceptre and the Sword of State. Songs were sung in Gaelic during the service, with musicians also performing traditional Scottish arrangements.

Previously, St Giles’ Cathedral was also where the late Queen Elizabeth II‘s coffin was taken for a service of thanksgiving. The coffin lay at rest there for 24 hours on September 12, 2022, permitting the people to pay their respects. The monarch’s four children held a vigil for their mother at St Giles’ Cathedral, too.

Which members of the royal family were at the Balmoral concert?
The Court Circular entry states that the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh – Prince Edward and Sophie – as well as Princess Anne and her husband Sir Tim Laurence were at last night’s concert.
However, the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay were not listed as being present.
Reports claim Prince William and Princess Kate may have been to church at Crathie Kirk last weekend, alongside their three children, and King Charles and Queen Camilla.

Why do the royals love Balmoral so much?
Balmoral has been in the royal family ever since Queen Victoria purchased the estate in 1852.
It has become royal family tradition for the monarch to spend August in the 50,000 acres of Aberdeenshire countryside Balmoral is located in.

Regarded as the late queen’s “happy place”, it is also where she died on September 8 2022.
