Melania Trump divides fans with 'inappropriate' dress for state banquet hosted by King Charles
First Lady Melania stood out amongst the royals
Melania Trump’s yellow state banquet dress, which she wore to dine with King Charles and Queen Camilla on Wednesday night (September 17), has caused quite a stir.
The US President and First Lady travelled to the UK this week for a second state visit, hosted by the king.
But, Melania has made a splash on social media, where many royal observers have flocked to share their thoughts on her style.

President Donald Trump, 79, and his wife were welcomed as guests of honour for the white tie event, hosted by King Charles III.
Unfortunately for Melania, 55, many royal observers were unimpressed with her outfit for the lavish evening.
For the state banquet, which saw members of the royal family including the Prince and Princess of Wales dine with the president and his wife, Melania wore an eye-catching yellow number.
The gown had an off-the-shoulder neckline and was a vibrant yellow colour. It was accessorised with a wide, lilac belt which sat around the first lady’s waist.
It also flaunted a side slit and Melania accessorised the look with sparkling green earrings and nude heeled pumps.

Melania Trump’s dress deemed ‘inappropriate’
Although Melania’s outfit was contemporary and stood out amongst the royals decked out in brooches, diamonds and finery, some fans were concerned that Mrs Trump had broken royal protocol.
In fact, some felt the off-the-shoulder look was “inappropriate” for such a regal event.

The royal family’s official Instagram shared a snap of the evening, where Queen Camilla, King Charles, Donald Trump and Melania Trump could be seen posing for a photo.
The caption read: “This evening, The King and Queen welcomed President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump to a State Banquet held in their honour at Windsor Castle.”
It was here where many onlookers took to the comment section to share their thoughts.
Royal observers chime in
One exclaimed: “What in the world is Melania wearing….”
Another chimed in: “The belt is just… nuh-uh. I may be mistaken but isn’t it inappropriate protocol to wear off the shoulder to such a function?”
“Melania is dressed for a garden wedding,” chimed in another.
“Off the shoulder. What is she thinking,” fumed a fourth.
“That yellow dress on anyone… could not be more inappropriate. It’s a state dinner not a night club,” added a fifth.
However, some fans did like Melania’s unique outfit.
“Love First Lady Melania Trump’s dress,” praised one.
“Everyone looks just stunning,” added another.
A third said: “I like the colours [the] ladies chose.”
“She looks stand out amazing as always,” complimented another.
Princess Kate’s gold dress for state dinner
Princess Kate also turned many heads with her shimmering gown.
The Princess of Wales wore British designer Phillipa Lepley. Her silk crepe dress was layered with a champagne gold Chantilly lace evening coat, with a high-neck reminiscent of her stunning 2011 Alexander McQueen wedding dress.
Kate complimented her outfit with earrings that once belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth and the Queen Mary Lover’s Knot tiara, previously worn by Princess Diana.
Meanwhile, Queen Camilla wore a regal, vivid blue Fiona Clare gown, with sparkling gems embroidered at the hem.
The queen complimented her elegant outfit with a sapphire tiara, which was commissioned in 1963 by her late mother-in-law Queen Elizabeth II, to coordinate with a sapphire necklace wedding present given by her father, King George VI.
