Fans duped into thinking Donald Trump was eating spaghetti in front of King Charles

The truth behind the picture has been revealed

Royal fans have been tricked into thinking that Donald Trump was actually eating spaghetti during King Charles’ speech at the state banquet this week.

The US president spent a few days in the UK this week for a historic second state visit. During his time in the country, he spent some time with the king, queen, Prince William, and Kate Middleton.

Fake snap of Trump during Charles’ speech does the rounds

Earlier this week, King Charles and Queen Camilla hosted a state banquet for Donald Trump and his wife, Melania, at Windsor Castle.

During the meal, both the king and the president made speeches about the “special relationship” between the UK and the US.

However, a fake image has gone viral of Trump’s behaviour during the speech.

In the picture, which has been reposted and shared on social media thousands of times during the past few days, Trump can be seen shovelling spaghetti into his mouth during Charles’ speech.

“I can’t stop laughing at the Trump slurping spaghetti in front of King Charles pic,” one royal fan tweeted.

“President Trump represents the best of America, and we can all watch Live as he brings class to the UK State Dinner,” another captioned the picture.

“Is this AI? Please Lord, let it be AI haha,” a third wrote.

Trump’s spaghetti snap debunked

In short, the picture is, in fact, edited, likely with some help from AI.

As footage from the banquet shows, at no point was Trump eating during King Charles’ speech.

The President sat facing forward, nodding along to the monarch’s words.

Further debunking the fake image, as footage from the banquet shows, there was no food on any of the plates during Charles’ speech.

Additionally, spaghetti was not on the menu at the banquet earlier this week. For starters, the king, president, and 158 other guests ate Hampshire watercress panna cotta with parmesan shortbread and quail egg salad.

The main course consisted of organic Norfolk chicken ballotine wrapped in courgettes, with a thyme and savoury infused jus. And for dessert, the guests had Vanilla ice cream bombe with Kentish raspberry sorbet and lightly poached Victoria plums.

Donald Trump’s two blunders during state banquet

During Trump’s speech at the state banquet, viewers were left cringing when he seemingly made not one, but two blunders.

The first supposed blunder seemed to see Trump refer to Charles as a “queen”.

“To His Majesty, King Charles III, a very, very special man. And also a very, very special queen. Thank you very much,” Trump said in his speech. Whilst some royal fans believe the president was referring to Charles, he was actually referring to Queen Camilla.

However, this is when the second blunder happened.

To His Majesty, King Charles III, a very, very special man. And also a very, very special queen. Thank you very much.

As Trump thanked a “very, very special queen”, the president turned to look at Kate Middleton, who was sat next to him, rather than Camilla. The president seemed to quickly realise his blunder, before turning to find Camilla across the table.

However, the damage was already done. “Trump looked straight at Kate, then Camilla, after that – when he toasted the (king) and queen…,” one royal fan tweeted.

“Donald trump looks at Kate when he thanks the ‘Queen’ of England to conclude his speech. Awks…” another said.
