Prince Edward amuses fans with dramatic cake cutting: 'He was having an absolute blast'
New favourite royal alert!Prince Edward appears to have won over a new army of fans after a clip of him cutting a cake went viral on social media.
The Duke of Edinburgh caused great amusement as he showed off some rather unconventional cake cutting skills during his official tour to Ghana last week.

‘The Duke of Edinburgh is underrated’
The video was reportedly captured during an annual event to celebrate King Charles III’s birthday at the British High Commission in Ghana.
Tasked with cutting his brother’s cake, the prince can be seen brandishing a ceremonial knife above his head, as attendees began a countdown from six.
On “zero”, Prince Edward stabbed theatrically into the cake, to cheers and applause, before holding the knife up triumphantly above his head.
“How to cut a cake in absolute style,” someone captioned the video as they shared it on social media. The clip has since amassed thousands of likes and many sweet comments.
“I now want to go to a party with this man,” gushed one person on X. They continued: “HRH The Duke of Edinburgh is most definitely underrated. I know he and The Duchess of Edinburgh both have packed diaries, but it would be lovely to see more UK engagements for them both.”
A second fan also agreed: “Omg he was having an absolute blast! Love him.”
“Utterly brilliant!!!” commented a third. “He seems like a genuinely fun person to be around!!! Him and wonderful Sophie make a great couple.”
Another person likewise said: “Omg, I’ve never seen him so animated. I love this!!! Go Duke of Edinburgh!!!”
“This is one of my favourites from the trip. HRH seems to be having a great time,” tweeted a fifth.

Why was Prince Edward in Ghana?
Prince Edward has just returned from a solo trip to Africa. He began his royal tour with seven days in Nigeria, before travelling on to Ghana for a two-day visit. The trip focused on reinforcing commonwealth links.
In his welcome address in Ghana, the Duke of Edinburgh said: “I am honoured to be with you and to echo your remarks on how we can continue our relationship as two countries for our common prosperity, and to impact the youth of the future to take on common roles as we move forward.”
British High Commissioner Christian Rogg likewise said the visit “celebrates the strong relationship between the UK and Ghana and recognises collaboration in education, climate action, and innovation”.
