Prince William's 'position' on Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie's royal futures amid Andrew scandal
The princesses' royal future hangs in the balanceA former royal correspondent has reflected on a telling moment he shared with a young Prince William that revealed his feelings towards his cousins, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.
The York sisters’ future in the royal family has recently been thrown into question amid the scandal surrounding their father, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
Andrew had his remaining royal titles and honours stripped following years of scrutiny over his association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
He has also faced allegations of sexual assault, which he has always vehemently denied.

As a result, Andrew’s ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, has also lost her Duchess of York title.
However, Beatrice and Eugenie have retained their own princess titles, and, the royal reporter claims, have the Prince of Wales firmly by their side.
‘A simple line, but a revealing one’
Writing in Hello! Magazine, Robert Jobson recalls meeting the then-teenage William and Harry and their younger cousins, Beatrice and Eugenie, in 1995 while reporting for the Express.
The four cousins were away on a skiing holiday in the Swiss resort of Klosters together and as they posed for photos, Robert quizzed them about how the trip was going.
A simple line, but a revealing one: calm, protective, instinctive
“I, then with the Daily Express, asked a couple of pre-arranged question: ‘How were they enjoying the holiday? Who was the best skier?'” Robert recalled.
“Harry, wearing a bandana, smirked. Little, he looked set to seize the moment,” he went on. “But before he could speak, William – thirteen, composed and already aware of the weight of a single sentence – cut in. The holiday was ‘good fun’ and his cousins, ‘improving’ and ‘very good skiers.’ A simple line, but a revealing one: calm, protective, instinctive.”
He went on to adorably describe how he had watched Prince William help little Eugenie, then just four, back to her feet after she’d taken a tumble in the snow.

Prince William to protect Beatrice and Eugenie
Turning to current events, Robert considered how this family dynamic could come into play.
He claimed that Prince William will continue to protect his cousins, in spite of Andrew. He said William also has no intention of taking their titles away.
“His position is direct: Beatrice and Eugenie must not be punished for their father’s alleged sins,” he said.
He added that the sisters’ loyalty and charity work, which includes dyslexia advocacy and anti-slavery campaigning, has earned them respect.
He therefore predicted that the sisters will continue to hold an important place in the royal family, even in a slimmed-down monarchy.
