Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announce new documentary Cookie Queens
The film is all about Girl Scout Cookie season
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have revealed their latest Netflix project, a documentary titled Cookie Queens, set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival in 2026.
The film is executive-produced by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex through their Archewell Productions company.
It dives into the whirlwind world of Girl Scout Cookie season, a beloved American tradition that once shaped Meghan’s own childhood.

Directed by Alysa Nahmias, Cookie Queens has been described as a “coming-of-age story” that follows four girls between the ages of five and 12 as they navigate the high-stakes season of cookie selling.
The film will debut in the festival’s Family Matinee section. It promises to be “captivating, candid, and full of heart”.
“Captivating, candid, and full of heart, the film follows four girls ages five to twelve and their families as they navigate the annual whirlwind of selling, striving, and succeeding,” reads the film’s synopsis. “For these Girl Scouts, selling cookies isn’t just about Thin Mints and sisterhood – it’s a crash course in entrepreneurship.
“Behind the smiles and cookie boxes lie real pressure: long hours, ambitious sales goals, and the weight of high expectations. Nahmias crafts a bold, vibrant, observational portrait that honors the girls’ perspectives and illuminates the emotional and intellectual stakes of their experiences.”
The project is particularly personal for Meghan. The duchess grew up as a Girl Scout in California. Her mother, Doria Ragland, also served as her troop leader.
In a statement, Meghan expressed her pride in bringing the project to life.
As reported by Deadline, she said: “As a former Girl Scout myself, with my mom as my troop leader, I have a personal affinity for this film and am proud that all our conversations and collaboration have led to Archewell Productions partnering with this award-winning team to executive produce this incredibly captivating documentary.
“When we first viewed the early footage of this documentary, it was immediately something we wanted to be involved in. The creative point of view, the edgy yet humanizing tone and tenor of the directing, and the glimpse behind-the-scenes into such a nostalgic and also modern tradition of Girl Scout Cookie season are absolutely irresistible.”
She also shared the news on her Instagram Stories, adding: “Full circle.”

Meghan Markle’s Girl Scout days
This isn’t Meghan’s first time publicly reminiscing about her Girl Scout days.
Back in April 2025, she shared a throwback photo on Instagram of herself selling cookies in her Brownie uniform.
“Being an entrepreneur can start young,” the duchess wrote. “(By the way, all these years later, and I’m still selling cookies!).”
The caption was a nod to the launch of her As Ever shortbread cookie mix, which sold out within an hour.
This upcoming documentary is a co-production with Beautiful Stories and AJNA Films, in collaboration with Archewell Productions.

The announcement also comes just over a week after the release of With Love, Meghan: Holiday Celebration, the duchess’ Christmas special of her Netflix show With Love, Meghan. It has aired for two seasons this year.
The hour-long special dropped on December 3. It featured Meghan hosting crafts and cooking sessions with celebrity pals.
Prince Harry even made a surprise cameo, sharing a kiss with Meghan as he enjoyed a bowl of homemade gumbo.
Lindsay Jill Roth, who also joined Meghan in the holiday special, told PEOPLE the experience felt like “a family day”.
“The vibe was amazing,” she gushed. “So warm, so fun, so easy. We were just ourselves.”
