Prince William's reassuring words to aunt Princess Anne caught on camera as fans gush
The royal relatives appeared on Mike Tindall's podcast, The Good, The Bad and the Rugby
Princess Anne and Prince William once shared a sweet moment on camera, as the Prince of Wales offered his aunt some heartfelt encouragement.
During a previous candid chat on The Good, The Bad and the Rugby podcast, hosted by Anne’s son-in-law Mike Tindall, the Princess Royal made a rare admission of self-doubt, and Prince William was quick to step in with a touching boost of confidence.

Prince William’s reassuring words to Princess Anne in podcast
The conversation turned to padel, a fast-growing racquet sport similar to tennis. Princess Catherine kicked off the discussion, revealing that she and William had become avid players.
“It’s great fun,” William said enthusiastically, prompting Anne to ask: “Do you think even I could do that?”
Without missing a beat, Prince William smiled and replied: “Definitely! I think you’d be really good at it.”
The exchange has been resurfaced and posted on social media this week, with the caption: “Prince William telling his aunt, Princess Anne, that she’d be very good at padel tennis.”
Fans quickly flooded the comments with praise and admiration for the tender family moment.
“She’d be excellent,” one fan commented. Meanwhile, others responded with heart emojis.
Definitely! I think you’d be really good at it.
Padel, typically played in doubles on a smaller, enclosed court, has reportedly become a favourite of the Prince and Princess of Wales.
According to The Sun, the couple play regularly, often heading off for competitive matches with friends.
“They looked good at it and did not come across as beginners,” a witness told the outlet in 2023. “There was lots of banter and a lot of laughing, but both sides fought every point.”
Wimbledon champion Annabel Croft also praised the sport. “When I first picked up the padel racket, I absolutely loved it instantly,” she told HELLO!. “It is so much fun, and anyone can play.”
She added: “Padel is slightly easier for people who haven’t played tennis to just have a go. I do find myself laughing a lot. It’s really fun.”

Royal family’s love for sports
While Prince William seems confident his aunt would take to padel, Anne has long been vocal about her indifference to tennis.
In fact, royal biographer Brian Hoey once wrote that the Princess Royal found Wimbledon too “cauldron-like”.
This sentiment was shared by her late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, who attended the tournament just four times during her 70-year reign.
Instead, Anne, who competed in equestrian events at the 1976 Olympics, is far more at home on the saddle.
Meanwhile, Princess Kate continues to prove she’s one of the sportiest royals. In the same podcast episode, she opened up about one of her more unusual hobbies: cold-water swimming.
“I really generally love all sports,” she said. “Personally, I love swimming. I absolutely love it. The colder the better. I absolutely love it. Slightly to the point where William says, ‘Catherine, you’re crazy.'”
Mike chimed in, adding that Kate often convinces others to join her for her icy swims, even in the dark and rain.
