Princess Anne is unrecognisable in rare photo with long hair at Wimbledon
Princess Anne usually rocks a practical up-do
Over the years, Princess Anne has attended Wimbledon a number of times. These days though, the hardworking royal is more focused on the slew of royal engagements she fulfils each week, rather than laid-back days out.
However, back in the day, the Princess Royal rocked a very relaxed look – drastically different from her current style.

Unearthed snap of Princess Anne at Wimbledon
A resurfaced snap of Princess Anne looking dramatically different is doing the rounds.
The image, snapped at Wimbledon in 1965, shows that Princess Anne hasn’t always opted for a practical up-do.
Anne has been known to flaunt a sleek bouffant style for over four decades. However, once upon a time, the royal had a trendy bob cut.
An unearthed photo shows King Charles’ sister with a sleek hairstyle, cropping her hair at the shoulders.
The image shows Princess Anne alongside her aunt Princess Margaret when she attended the AELTC in 1967.
The then-16-year-old could be seen wearing a button-up collared coat whilst observing the men’s singles final between John Newcombe and Wilhelm Bungert.

Princess Anne’s Wimbledon fashion
Princess Anne attended Wimbledon several times between the mid ’60s and ’80s, but hasn’t put in an appearance since the 1980s.
Notably, Princess Anne was the epitome of summer style when she rocked a chic up-do hairstyle and a mini-dress when she awarded Ann Jones with the championship trophy in 1969.
She’s not there to decorate a room, she’s there for a job.
Royal observers are probably aware that tennis isn’t Anne’s favourite sport, instead she favours equestrian sport and rugby.
The former Olympian often attends showjumping tournaments and Royal Ascot.
Anne is also known to be a keen rugby fan and has been a patron of the Scottish Rugby Union since 1986.

Princess Anne’s signature hairstyle
The Princess Royal has rocked her signature bouffant up-do for over 40 years.
In 2020, the royal acknowledged a misconception about her everyday look.
In Anne: The Princess Royal at 70 documentary, released in 2020, Anne stated: “Actually, I read an article the other day about the – I don’t watch Netflix and The Crown… but the actress was talking about how long it took them to do their hair like I did.
“And I’m thinking, ‘How could you possibly take that long?’ I mean, it takes me 10 or 15 minutes.”
It came after Netflix’s The Crown admitted Princess Anne’s hairstyle took over two hours to recreate on set.
Speaking of Anne’s hair, Claudia Harrison, who played Princess Anne in later seasons of The Crown told Marie Claire: “It’s like armour.”
She explained: “She’s a feminist icon to me and hopefully to everybody. She’s not there to decorate a room, she’s there for a job, and I think her hair is part of that.”
Harrison stated: “She’s telling us, ‘This is my workmanship, I turn up. I’m not going to let you be distracted by my latest look. I am who I am so let me do my job’.”
