Prince William 'banned' from using e-scooter in grounds of new 'forever home' with Princess Kate

Prince William’s new home may be fit for a future king, but there’s one modern luxury he’s reportedly had to give up: his beloved e-scooter.
According to reports, the Prince of Wales has been barred from riding e-scooters on the grounds of Windsor Great Park, the vast estate where Forest Lodge, the Wales family’s new eight-bedroom residence, is located.

Strict estate rules reportedly ban all motorised personal transport, such as e-scooters, hoverboards, and one-wheels, from the private roads within the park.
The guidelines state: “Aside from cyclists, the roads are reserved for residents and Estate workers. All other forms of motorised transport are not permitted within Windsor Great Park. Examples include: E-scooters, Hoverboards, One-wheels.”
Prince William has often been seen using his e-scooter, including in the Apple TV+ show The Reluctant Traveler with host Eugene Levy. However, this rule seemingly means those joyrides are officially off-limits.
An insider told The Sun: “William used to love his e-scooter to get around the castle as there was no ban. But of course, he’s more than happy and prepared to adhere to the rules on e-scooters in Windsor Great Park.”
William first opened up about his e-scooter usage in 2025 while filming The Reluctant Traveler.
“It gets around quite nicely around here, it’s quite fun,” he told Eugene. “I’m always late, so I thought this was the way to keep my meetings on time.”

He added, with a laugh: “I’m still regularly late, Eugene, anyway. I have managed to get myself a puncture this morning, which is quite amusing.”

Wales family move into ‘forever home’
Despite the ban, The Sun reported that residents may be allowed to use e-scooters near their homes. However, areas like the Long Walk, the iconic 2.5-mile avenue to Windsor Castle, are strictly off-limits.
Meanwhile, Prince William, Princess Catherine, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, relocated to Forest Lodge in autumn 2025.
The move also marked a fresh chapter following Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis and recovery. Now a year into remission, the transition from Adelaide Cottage has been seen as a symbolic new beginning.
“Forest Lodge is a new start,” royal biographer Katie Nicholl told The Mirror. “It’s a chance to leave that difficult period behind.”
Despite the estate’s reported £17million value, the couple maintain a modest lifestyle.
Kate is said to be hands-on with the interiors, blending timeless elegance with practicality.
“Kate has a clear sense of style,” Nicholl added. “If you look at her wardrobe, you see a sense of timeless elegance. That’s very much reflected in her interiors.”
