Queen Camilla's 'warning' to King Charles before he underwent prostate procedure
It's been two years since the king underwent the procedureQueen Camilla once reportedly told her husband, King Charles, to “slow down” ahead of his prostate procedure.
The king, now 77, underwent a procedure for an enlarged prostate in January 2024.
This week marks two years since the king underwent the treatment, which came weeks before King Charles announced his cancer diagnosis.

Palace’s statement on King Charles’ prostate procedure
On January 17, 2024, it was announced that the king would be undergoing a “corrective” procedure for an enlarged prostate.
The palace said in a statement: “In common with thousands of men each year, The King has sought treatment for an enlarged prostate. His Majesty’s condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure.
The Queen has told him he needs to slow down a bit.
“The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation.”
During an engagement at the time, Queen Camilla was heard saying that the king was “fine” ahead of his operation.

Queen Camilla’s warning to King Charles before his surgery
According to The Sun days later, a source claimed that Queen Camilla had issued a warning to her husband over his health ahead of the procedure.
The insider said at the time: “The Queen has told him he needs to slow down a bit.”
Sources close to the king added that he liked it to be “busy” and was “raring to go”.
Reps for Buckingham Palace were contacted for comment on these claims.
In the days that followed, the palace confirmed that Charles’ procedure for an enlarged prostate had gone well at the London Clinic private hospital. Queen Camilla also said he was “doing well”.
A few days later, he left hospital and focused on his recovery.

The king’s cancer diagnosis
However, in early February 2024, Buckingham Palace announced the king had been diagnosed with cancer.
The statement read: “During The King’s recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer.
“His Majesty has today commenced a schedule of regular treatments, during which time he has been advised by doctors to postpone public-facing duties. Throughout this period, His Majesty will continue to undertake State business and official paperwork as usual.”
King Charles hasn’t revealed the type of cancer he has. However, it’s believed it isn’t prostate cancer.
The king continued treatment throughout 2024 and 2025. In December last year, King Charles shared some “good news” in his cancer journey.
In a TV appearance for last year’s Stand Up To Cancer campaign, the monarch said: “I am able to share with you the good news that thanks to early diagnosis, effective intervention and adherence to ‘doctors’ orders, my own schedule of cancer treatment can be reduced in the new year.”
