King Charles is continuing with his royal duties amid his cancer treatment, but a royal expert thinks Queen Camilla may want her husband to make changes for his health.

Buckingham Palace announced the king’s cancer diagnosis last February. He has been undergoing treatment since.

The monarch is keeping up with his duties, and a royal expert believes this is because King Charles has “been so conditioned to work that I don’t think he functions unless he’s working”.

King Charles likely ‘tired’ from cancer treatment

Royal author Ingrid Seward has told Newsweek: “The trouble is, he’s been so conditioned to work that I don’t think he functions unless he’s working.

“When he’s not working, he’s probably a bit all over the place, I know I’m like that. He’s always working and it’s just not his nature to take an afternoon nap, which I’m sure Camilla is trying to make him do.”

Ingrid continued: “Cancer treatment makes you very, very tired. The trouble is it’s his duty as monarch to do these stifling boring handshakes with incoming and outgoing ambassadors.”

She said that some of the royal duties must feel “boring,” describing that as “very exhausting”.

King Charles urged to ‘slow down’ amid health woes

Ingrid said the “only way” King Charles could “slow down is if someone took over some of his official roles as monarch”.

She added if someone could “take some of that away from him, I think his life would be easier”.

He’s always working and it’s just not his nature to take an afternoon nap, which I’m sure Camilla is trying to make him do.

It comes after Queen Camilla herself spoke about Charles slowing down. But she said it’s something he doesn’t want to do!

Speaking to Jack Reacher author Lee Child at the second annual Queen’s Reading Room Festival, Camilla said Charles “won’t slow down and won’t do what he’s told”.

King Charles’ hospital stint

Last week, the king had a brief stay in hospital after experiencing “temporary side-effects” from his cancer treatment.

A statement from the palace read: “Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, the king experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital.

“His Majesty’s afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.”

This week, King Charles returned to work as he presented honours to recognise incredible people at an Investiture at Windsor Castle.
