Meghan Markle is said to have a very strict rule when it comes to her Montecito home.

One that guests are expected to follow, but she often breaks.

If you thought a camera-laden reporter would be getting an exclusive look into the multi-million dollar pad anytime soon, you would probably be wrong. But that doesn’t mean Meghan is going to slow down on the glimpses she gives into her lavish abode.

Meghan Markle’s ‘rule’ at Montecito home

According to a new interview the duchess did in recent weeks with The New York Times, Meghan disallows her guests from taking snaps.

Food writer Julia Moskin recently stepped into the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s reported $14m Montecito mansion. This was a notable occasion as this interview marked the first time Meghan Markle had allowed a journalist into her family home.

However, there was a strict condition that Moskin had to abide by.

“I was allowed in on the condition that no photographs were taken in, or of, the house,” Moskin penned in her New York Times article.

Surprising, as in recent months Meghan has shared several looks into the mostly shielded pad.

Meghan Markle shares glimpses into Montecito mansion

It is important to note that although the Duchess of Sussex has been opening up recently, from a sit down talk show chat to introducing viewers to a cohort of her friends, she did choose to film outside of her home when recording her Netflix cooking show With Love, Meghan.

This was a move that allowed her to keep her home, that she shares with her husband and two children, Archie and Lilibet, private.

Contrarily, Meghan has included shots of her house in recent posts to social media.

Just yesterday, the duchess seemingly filmed herself making a banana pudding in her rustic kitchen. The kitchen appears to have stained wooden counter doors. It also boasts wooden worktops, a small copper sink, as well as a large Butler sink.

In other clips, including one where Meghan is seen serving up her banana pudding, stone walls can be seen.

Blue tiling and a metal pot rack hung above an island, holding countless copper pans.

Additionally, in Meghan’s 40 for 40 initiative back in 2021, where 40 global figures were encouraged to donate 40 minutes of mentorship, the duchess was filmed in her office.

The airy room was very chic indeed. It boasted a serene neutral colour palette and tasteful decor. It was here that Meghan could be seen sat at a sizeable wooden table decorated with copious magazine copies.

You might be wondering, “So, where was Meghan in With Love, Meghan if it wasn’t actually her house?”

Where the Duchess of Sussex filmed With Love, Meghan

The Netflix series was filmed at a rented Montecito farmhouse. The fancy residence is said to be worth a cool £5million ($8m).

This isn’t the first time Meghan chose to film outside of her home.

Hers and Prince Harry’s famous 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey was filmed at the home of an unnamed friend of Winfrey’s.

And when Harry and Meghan starred in their namesake Netflix show, they filmed interviews inside a jaw-dropping $30 million estate rather than at their family pad.
