Why social media users think Prince Harry dated Rihanna

Back in 2016, Prince Harry and Barbadian singer Rihanna joined forces to raise awareness about HIV testing for World Aids Day.

Their initial meeting occurred when Harry visited Toast to the Nation event in Barbados, where the pair spoke for the first time and shook hands.

According to the BBC, the prince greeted the Grammy Award winning star saying: “Hello, it’s very nice to meet you.”

The prince then read a message from Queen Elizabeth II, which said: “Prince Philip and I send our warmest wishes to the government and the people of Barbados on the occasion of your 50th Anniversary of Independence.

“Over the years I have visited Barbados five times and you have kindly welcomed many other members of my family. Our countries have a shared history, shared values and an affection which continues to bind us in friendship. On this day of celebration, I send my congratulations to you on your Golden Jubilee of Independence.”

The unlikely pair were later snapped as they took discrete tests and discussed the importance of rapid testing for HIV for those who are not sure of their status.

In the photos, which have since caused quite a stir, the pair looked very much at ease together, laughing and smiling.

The pair sat closely as they received the tests, with certain shots capturing moments they gazed rather fondly at each other. They were even photographed embracing!

In most of the photos, Harry appeared to be quite red in the face. Perhaps he was blushing in the presence of the Diamonds singer?

In wake of their meeting, a carefully curated montage, emphasising that the pair looked smitten has gained traction on social media.

It still resurfaces even years later, whilst Harry is happily wed to Meghan Markle.

Although Harry and Rihanna did look picture-perfect together, it was never confirmed whether they dated and highly unlikely that they struck up a relationship during such fleeting meetings.

Rihanna’s reaction to Harry and Meghan wedding ‘snub’

It was probably just a rumour sparked by fans shipping the stars.

Rihanna now shares two children with popular rapper A$AP Rocky. And, of course, Prince Harry is married to the Duchess of Sussex with whom he shares Archie and Lilibet.

Previously, Rihanna was questioned in an interview over whether she would be attending Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

Chatting in 2018, when asked, Rihanna’s face dramatically dropped. She then quipped: “Why would you think I am invited?”

The exasperated interviewer replied: “I don’t know! You met him!”

An amused Rihanna retorted: “Okay, you met me! Do you think you are coming to my wedding?”

Rihanna later teased, when the interview insisted that she would invite Rihanna to her wedding: “Maybe I should feel a way then.”
