Sarah Ferguson previously opened up about her “family unit” with Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and their daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

In recent weeks, Ferguson and her ex-husband, Andrew, have faced intense scrutiny over their links to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

On January 30, the US Department of Justice released more than three million files relating to Epstein and his crimes. Within these files, emails allegedly between Ferguson and Epstein emerged.

Also within the files, images appeared to show Andrew kneeling on all fours over an unidentified female lying on the ground. No context has been supplied for the images. It’s also unclear when and where they were taken.

The former couple’s daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, have remained quiet amid the scandal.

Sarah Ferguson and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor scandal

It’s been a dramatic few months for Sarah Ferguson. Last September, she was dropped by several charities as emails emerged appearing to show her association with Epstein.

Last October, Buckingham Palace announced that Andrew would have his remaining royal titles and honours removed as scrutiny was mounting over his Epstein links. It also came as his accuser Virginia Giuffre’s posthumous memoir was released.

In it, she detailed her allegations against Andrew. Ms Giuffre alleged she was made to sleep with Andrew on three separate occasions when she was 17 after being trafficked by Epstein.

Andrew has always vehemently denied the allegations against him.

As Andrew lost his royal titles, his ex-wife also lost her Duchess of York title.

The palace also confirmed that Andrew would leave his sprawling Windsor mansion, Royal Lodge. Ferguson had lived there for years.

Now, with the former couple repeatedly making headlines, it’s unclear over the state of their relationship with daughters Beatrice and Eugenie.

‘We support each other emotionally’

Beatrice and Eugenie were also seemingly mentioned in the files.

Allegedly, just days after Epstein’s prison release following his conviction for soliciting sex from a minor in 2009, Ferguson allegedly visited him in Miami. Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie were reportedly also in attendance.

The sisters were 19 and 20 at the time.

We’re a family unit and we lead by example.

It’s unclear how Beatrice and Eugenie are dealing with the scandal behind closed doors.

In a past interview, Ferguson detailed how close they were as a family.

She told HELLO! in 2017: “A table goes best with four legs. A table can’t stand on three legs, so you have the Duke and I, and the two girls. We’re a family unit and we lead by example.

“We support each other emotionally and we support each other health-wise. At least every two weeks we sit down together and communicate, the four of us.”

How Beatrice and Eugenie ‘are coping’ with scandal

Recently, speculation has been swirling about whether the Beatrice and Eugenie have distanced themselves from Andrew, after rumours Eugenie had cut her father off completely. However, those claims have been contradicted recently.

In January, it was claimed that Princess Beatrice had been spending some time with her father. It was also alleged that Eugenie was “there whenever [Andrew] needs her”.

Amid the watching eyes and swirling speculation, experts also claimed that Beatrice and Eugenie are in a very complex situation.

Royal author Robert Jobson told HELLO! recently: “They must be overwhelmed and aghast by this.”
