Prince William issues Earthshot Prize announcement as next awards location revealed

The Prince of Wales, 43, launched the initiative in 2020 with the aim to find innovative ways to help repair and improve the planet.
According to Earthshot’s website, its mission is to “mobilise a decade of environmental action to repair the planet”.
Now, William has issued a new announcement to fans ahead of this year’s award ceremony in November. It will take place in India for the first time.
William’s announcement comes at a tough time for the royal family as his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, faces intense scrutiny over his ties to late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
The royal family is facing pressure to speak out amid the scandal.

What is the Earthshot Prize?
The Earthshot Prize aims to discover bold, innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing environmental issues.
Each year, five winners from each Earthshot category – Protect and Restore Nature, Clean our Air, Revive our Oceans, Build a Waste-Free World, and Fix our Climate – are awarded £1 million to help them continue their work.
This country is a global technology leader. It’s home to eight percent of the world’s biodiversity.
Last year, the Earthshot Prize Awards took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. William flew out to Rio in November for a series of engagements related to his initiative.
He also hosted the awards ceremony during his trip. Now, William teased the next location for the 2026 Earthshot Prize Awards in a personal video message.
He said: “The Earthshot Prize in Rio built incredible momentum for the Earthshot decade. Now I’m delighted to reveal where we’re going next…”

Prince William issues announcement about Earthshot Prize
The Prince of Wales continued: “This country is a global technology leader. It’s home to eight percent of the world’s biodiversity.
“It’s the world’s fastest growing major economy with the largest population of young people in the world.
“And it’s home to more Earthshot Prize finalists and winners than any other country on the planet. We’re going to India.”
Footage then played showing the beautiful culture, scenery, people, and animals of India.
The post’s caption read: “The Earthshot Prize is going to India. We couldn’t be more excited for the 6th edition in Mumbai this November.”

Royal fans also appear over the moon by the announcement. One person gushed in the comment section: “Oh that’s great news!!! Another perfect choice for the ceremony.”
Another added: “Wonderful news!!”
Someone else wrote: “So glad that you are visiting India Your Highness.”
Prince William’s mission over the environment
Prince William previously expressed his desire to create a better world for the younger generation. He’s a dad to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.
He told HELLO!: “As a father, I think constantly about the world my children will inherit.
“I want them to grow up surrounded by nature, opportunity and a sense of hope about the future. But I also know that unless we act boldly now, that future is at risk.
“The Earthshot Prize is about turning the tide, about proving to our children that we are willing to fight for their tomorrow.”
