Prince William's 'urgent' Earthshot Prize announcement as 2025 awards head to Brazil
The awards will be held in Rio de Janeiro in NovemberPrince William has revealed that the 2025 Earthshot Prize awards will be held in Brazil.
In a new video message shared to social media, the Prince of Wales, 42, announced the exciting news alongside some famous faces.
The likes of Robert Irwin, Nomzamo Mbatha, Heidi Klum and David Beckham feature in the clip.

Prince William announces Earthshot Prize awards 2025 will take place in Brazil
The Earthshot Prize is a global award that is given to five winners each year for their contributions towards environmentalism.
Prince William launched the initiative in 2020, and the first award was given the following year.
I’m pleased to announce that we’re going to be in Brazil in 2025.
In the new social media video, the prince spoke to Robert and Nomzamo. He said: “Hi guys! We’re here to talk about what’s coming up for the Earthshot Prize.
“I’m pleased to announce that we’re going to be in Brazil in 2025.”
Robert, an Australian conservationist and the son of the late Steve Irwin, looked shocked as he declared: “Yes! That’s amazing!”

William continued: “I think Brazil really epitomises where the Prize needs to land. The culture of Brazil, the fact we’ve got COP30 there.”
Robert added: “When you think about habitat preservation and biodiversity, gee, that’s the first place that comes to mind.”
Nomzamo said: “We are going to the continent that houses the lungs of the Earth.”
The Prince of Wales added: “We need urgent optimism now more than ever. And I think Brazil epitomises that. I can’t believe we are at the halfway point of 10 years.”
William then said he wanted the pair to “spread the word”.

Robert and Nomzamo then informed a variety of famous faces about the news, including TV personality Heidi Klum, football legend David Beckham, actress Cate Blanchett and actor and singer Billy Porter.
Royal fans were thrilled over the news that the Earthshot Prize awards will take place in Rio de Janeiro in November.
In a statement, Prince William said: “2025 marks the midway point of the Earthshot decade and each year we’ve witnessed the remarkable power of human ingenuity in addressing our planet’s most pressing challenges.

“It is an honour to profile the people making our world a better place for us and for our children.”
Meanwhile, the Earthshot Prize’s Instagram account shared that 15 “new incredible finalists from around the world” will be shortlisted for a chance of winning the prizes.
