Prince William ‘hires’ Princess Diana’s divorce lawyers
Law firm Harbottle & Lewis has a long history representing members of the royal family with legal matters.
However, a new report by Richard Eden for the Daily Mail claims Prince William, 42, has moved away from this and has now hired Mishcon de Reya.
A source told the publication: “William wanted to strike out on his own. He did not want to continue using his father’s lawyers. It’s as simple as that. He wants to be his own man.”
They added: “William wants to do things differently from his father, and wants to be seen to do them differently.”
According to the publication, Harbottle & Lewis is disappointed by the prince’s decision.
A Kensington Palace spokesperson declined to comment to the Mail. Royal Insider has reached out to reps for further comment.

Charles and Diana’s divorce
Princess Diana and the then Prince Charles finalised their divorce in 1996. However, they had separated in 1992.
The pair had tied the knot at St Paul’s Cathedral in July 1981, and went on to welcome Prince William in 1982 and Prince Harry in 1984.
Their separation was announced in December 1992, with a statement reading: “This decision has been reached amicably and they will both continue to participate fully in the upbringing of their children.”
William wants to do things differently from his father.
Then, in late 1995, Queen Elizabeth II expressed her desire for Charles and Diana to have an “early divorce”.
A statement at the time added: “The Prince of Wales also takes this view and has made this known to the Princess of Wales since the letter.
“The queen and the Duke of Edinburgh will continue to do all they can to help and support the Prince and Princess of Wales, and most particularly their children, in this difficult period.”
