Prince William's heartwrenching confession about dealing with Kate Middleton's 'brutal' cancer ordeal
Kate previously said her cancer ordeal was "incredibly tough" for their familyTwo years ago, Kate Middleton was diagnosed with cancer and the shock news left a heartbreaking impact on her family.
In March 2024, the Princess of Wales announced publicly that she had cancer and would be undergoing treatment. In September of that year, she shared the news that she had completed her treatment.
Then, in January 2025, Kate announced she was in remission.
Throughout her health ordeal, her husband, the Prince of Wales, was firmly by her side. But in late 2024, Prince William made a heartwrenching confession about his wife’s health woes as well as his father King Charles’ own cancer diagnosis.

Kate Middleton’s ‘relief’ over being in remission following cancer treatment
In an emotional statement on her and William’s Instagram page last January, Kate revealed she was in remission.
She said: “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery. As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal.
It’s probably been the hardest year in my life.
“I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”

Prince William’s heartbreaking confession about Kate’s cancer
Throughout Kate’s cancer journey, Prince William supported her.
As Kate stepped away from duties after her diagnosis to focus on her treatment, William stepped up.
He took a brief break from his duties to support Kate and their three children, Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven.
According to reports, the Prince of Wales also took on the school run duties as well as cheering their children on from the sidelines during school activities as Kate underwent treatment.
Prince of Wales details ‘brutal year’
In November 2024, William opened up about the “brutal” year as he admitted it was one of the “hardest” of his life.
As well as Kate dealing with cancer, his father King Charles was also diagnosed and continues with his treatment now. In late 2025, King Charles announced that his treatment would be reduced in 2026.
William told reporters during his trip to South Africa: “It’s been dreadful. It’s probably been the hardest year in my life. So, trying to get through everything else and keep everything on track has been really difficult.
“I’m so proud of my wife, I’m proud of my father, for handling the things that they have done. But from a personal family point of view, it’s been brutal.”

2025 was much more positive for the Wales family. The Princess of Wales began returning to her duties slowly, making sure to balance her work with her health needs.
It’s also looking to be another positive year in 2026 for the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children.
Recently, Kate opened up about one aspect of her lifestyle she’s changed since her cancer journey.
After pulling a pint at Fabal Beerhall earlier this month, the princess was invited to give the alcohol a try.
But, she said: “Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol. It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now.”
