President of Germany to visit UK for state visit with King Charles
King Charles will host the German President, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, and his wife, Frau Elke Büdenbender, at Windsor Castle, from December 3 to 5.
Buckingham Palace shared news of the upcoming three-day visit across their verified social media channels this morning (October 13).

“The President of Germany, accompanied by Frau Büdenbender, will pay a State Visit to the United Kingdom, hosted by His Majesty The King, from Wednesday 3rd December to Friday 5th December,” a statement read.
King Charles has visited Germany “more than forty times”. In 2023, he visited the country on his first foreign trip as king, where he also became the first British monarch to address the Bundestag, the national parliament.
I have been struck by the warmth of the friendship between our nations.
Likewise, President Steinmeier has made several trips to Britain. His most recent visit was in May 2023, where he was a guest at King Charles’ coronation.
However, this will be the first official state visit by a German President in 27 years and the fifth since 1958.

“Remarkably, I realise I have visited Germany more than forty times – a measure of the importance of this relationship, of course, but also, I fear, of just how long I have been around!” King Charles said during a state banquet during his Germany state visit in 2023.
He added touchingly: “Over all these years, and in so many ways, I have been struck by the warmth of the friendship between our nations and by the vitality of our partnership in countless areas.”
