Both king and prince have been lifelong advocates for protecting the environment.

Aged only 21, in 1970, King Charles delivered a speech warning of the dangerous effects of plastic pollution on the environment. Prince William has also shared that their dad would regularly take him and Prince Harry litter-picking as children, to instil an appreciation for the environment.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Prince William has played his own part in championing environmental action.

In 2020, the Prince of Wales founded The Earthshot Prize. The global award honours five winners each year for their contributions towards environmentalism.
