Prince Harry gives new talk in Australia

Harry was giving a talk on stage at an event about fatherhood hosted by Movember in Melbourne. He and Meghan are currently on a four-day tour of Australia.

Speaking about taking part in therapy before the birth of his kids, Harry said: “Certainly from a therapy standpoint, you want to be the best version of yourself for your kids.

“And I knew that I had stuff from the past that I needed to deal with, and therefore prepare myself to basically cleanse myself of the past.

Certainly I felt a disconnection because my wife was the one creating life.

“Conversations that are now happening in households between kids and parents that never existed between me and my parents.”

The duke continued: “From my perspective, our kids are our upgrade. That’s not how I was taught but that was my take on it. Not to say I was an upgrade of my dad or that my kids are an upgrade of me.

“That’s the approach that I take, to know that with the world the way that it goes, the kids that we bring up in today’s world need to be an upgrade.”

‘Certainly I felt a disconnection’

Harry said there’s “no judgment, there’s no blame, there’s no pointing the finger”.

He said the reality is that “however you are parenting, that is a personal experience to you, you are going to want to improve on that”.

Harry said that men in the early days of fatherhood could experiences feelings of disconnection.

He admitted: “Certainly I felt a disconnection because my wife was the one creating life. And I was there to witness it.

“I think for many guys, you try to think about what service can I provide at this point, because my work here is done to some extent.”

How Prince Archie's birth was announced to the world

The birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's first child, son Archie, was a joyful occasion for the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced in October 2018 that they were expecting their first child together. The news came just a few months after their wedding in the May.

But how was Archie's birth announced?

Archie was born on May 6, 2019. At the time, a statement was released on behalf of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

It read: "Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning.

"The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz. The Duke of Sussex was present for the birth."

It added: "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.

"The Duchess’s mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.

"Her Royal Highness and the baby are both doing well."

Harry's gushing comments about his son's birth

Meanwhile, Prince Harry spoke to reporters after Archie's birth. He gushed: "I haven't been at many births. This is definitely my first birth. It was amazing, absolutely incredible, and, as I said, I'm so incredibly proud of my wife.

"As every father and parent will ever say, you know, your baby is absolutely amazing, but this little thing is absolutely to-die-for, so I'm just over the moon."

He added: "It's been the most amazing experience I could ever have possibly imagined. How any woman does what they do is beyond comprehension."

Harry and Meghan then introduced Archie to the world a couple of days later on May 8. They did a photocall at Windsor Castle.

He said: “I think the biggest tip that I was given, actually, from my therapist in the UK, was just be aware of how you feel once the baby is born.
