Prince William reportedly had some doubts over his brother Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle.

Next month will mark eight years since Harry and Meghan tied the knot at St George’s Chapel on the grounds of Windsor Castle.

However, according to a new report, the Prince of Wales is allegedly “surprised their marriage has lasted this long”.

Prince William’s ‘verdict’ on Harry and Meghan’s marriage

An insider reportedly told Closer: “He genuinely expected that she’d have chewed him up and spit him out by now. Not that he’s changed his tune – he’s still saying it will be over any day now. He believes she’s gotten everything she wanted from his brother, so it’s only a matter of time before he’s of no use to her anymore.

“It’s a very harsh take on things, but William is unequivocal in his belief that Meghan is nothing but an opportunist. All the Hollywood stuff is another red flag in his view because he doesn’t believe for one second that Harry wants to be paraded around the red carpet like a show pony. Sure, it may have been a fun novelty at first, but William knows him well enough to see the discomfort written on his face in all the pictures he’s seen.”

The source added: “William is convinced that, sooner or later, his brother will have had enough – that is, if Meghan doesn’t toss him to the side first. And, when that happens William will be there to welcome him back, but not a day sooner.”

How did Prince Harry propose to Meghan Markle?

In the interview, Prince Harry revealed that he popped the question during a "cosy night" roasting chicken at his Kensington Palace home, Nottingham Cottage.

Meghan said: "It was just an amazing surprise. It was so sweet and natural and very romantic, he got on one knee."

Meghan said it was an instant yes.

Harry quipped: "She didn't even let me finish."

Speaking about the ring he chose to propose to Meghan with, Harry explained: "The ring is yellow gold because that's her favourite and the main stone itself I sourced from Botswana and the little diamonds either side are from my mother's jewellery collection to make sure she's with us on this crazy journey together."

Harry teased future family plans

Meanwhile, Prince Harry opened up about wanting a family with Meghan. He said: "One step at a time, hopefully we'll start a family in the near future."

And that's what they have done. Harry and Meghan tied the knot in May 2018. But, since stepping away from royal duties in 2020, Harry and Meghan now live in the US.

They have set up life in California with their two children, Prince Archie, born in May 2019, and Princess Lilibet, born in June 2021.
