Royal family faces 'risk' as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle urged to 'visit UK for showdown'
Rumours are rife over whether Harry and Meghan will make a return to Britain this summerOne royal commentator has weighed in on the possibility of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reuniting with the royal family in a UK visit.
There’s been speculation over whether the Sussexes will visit the UK this summer and if they could end up reuniting with his family.
It’s been six years since the Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped back from their working royal roles. However, relations between Harry and Meghan and the royal family seemingly remain strained.
It comes after years of tell-all interviews and Harry’s memoir Spare, which contained some damning allegations about his family.

Are Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visiting the UK?
It’s unknown if Harry and Meghan will return to the UK this year. Meghan was last in Britain in September 2022 to attend the late Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral.
Harry, however, has visited on a few occasions since then.
Last month, reports claimed that Prince Harry wants to visit the UK this summer to spend some time with his father, King Charles.
Last September, Harry reunited with his father for the first time in 18 months. They enjoyed a private tea at the king’s London residence, Clarence House.

However, security has been an issue for Harry and Meghan since they stepped back from royal duties.
Last year, Harry lost his court appeal over a decision made regarding his security in Britain. RAVEC (Royal and VIP Executive Committee) previously made the decision to downgrade Harry’s automatic taxpayer-funded police protection in the UK after he and Meghan quit duties and moved to the US. It was changed to a case-by-case basis process instead.
After losing his legal challenge, Harry told the BBC: “I can’t see a world in which I will be bringing my wife and children back to the UK. They’re going to miss everything, I love my country. I miss the UK, I miss parts of the UK.”
But Harry is reportedly hopeful for a family reunion this summer. A friend of the duke’s reportedly told The Times in March: “If he was invited by the king, he would get a package of security that automatically kicks in. He’d like an invite to Sandringham. Would he go? It would depend who was there. If the king was to say, ‘Come up and spend some time with the family’, he’d love that.”
Royal Insider contacted representatives for the Sussexes for comment on these claims.

Could a Sandringham reunion ‘clear the air’?
Royal correspondent Richard Palmer has now weighed in. He told the Mirror: “Spending a few days together at Sandringham or another royal residence could enable some sort of showdown that clears the air.
“Many in the outside world think they all need to move on and that even though it’ll never be the same again, they could have some sort of a more normal relationship. The king finds it incredibly painful that he can’t see his grandchildren, but is very cautious about re-engaging.”
However, Richard issued the royal family with a warning.
He added: “One of the big risks if they come over to Sandringham and stay with the king and Queen Camilla is that it’s a very high-profile trip, and if Meghan’s selling replicas of her clothing and Harry’s making money doing speeches, then the king is looking like he’s helping them to make money. That is a big risk for the monarchy.”
